Really.

Sarah used a telepalm in Nashville. Obama didn't use anything at the Republican retreat in Baltimore during an unscripted Q&A and people are still talking like she is a serious politician. Scary thing is, no one thought Ronald Reagan could be elected either. Just some food for thought.

I didn't want to talk about Sarah and the tea party today, but I had to. I wanted to ignore this stupidity and not take it seriously. I can't --I'm angry. I don't quite get exactly where this tea party thing is going, but I am incredulously pissed that these people made not a peep before January 20, 2009. I am really resentful that they think they are the chosen ones to save this country-- acting as though millions of hard working activists for the past 8 years didn't exist.

But what I am even more angry about is the fact that the media takes them seriously. They give them air-time, and act as if they really are legitimate. No one in the media mentioned that Sarah had prewritten answers on her hand for a pre-screened and rehearsed question.

But it gets better. Yesterday, while being interviewed on Fox News (where she is paid as a political pundit) she actually excused Rush Limbaugh for calling liberals 'retards':

Nope, there is no sense of irony there -- or shame, from this self-described good Christian God-fearing woman. This woman, with all the scandal that surrounds her is actually considered a viable politician by tea partiers and the media. No mention that she read answers off of her hands -- that's to be expected. She was interviewed by the people she works for -- no conflict of interest there.

When we on the left have hundreds of thousands march for woman's reproductive rights, or to end wars, we get maybe 5 minutes time on TV -- when they do, they get hours of punditry. I resent that, I fully admit it. So this morning, I am just pissed. I am sick and tired of people defending this socio-pathological liar and opportunist and the people who claim that she represents them. Her husband was part of a secession group for the love of honesty!

She is a hypocrite, and people need to start calling her to the carpet for what she says and does, because she is the symbol of so much of what is wrong in this nation.

Really -- I am just sick of it all. These obstructionist bastards are making a bad situation worse, and are acting like they have all the answers while people like you and I have spent a lifetime being active for social and political issues to make this world a better happier place. They have no answers, they never did. All they have is torches and pitchforks and the delusional idea that they are saving the country. It needs to be saved from ignorant fear-mongers like them.

A woman who cannot answer a question without writing answers on her hand has no place on any political stage. I could only imagine if she did this during nuclear disarmament talks and had to shake a leader with a sweaty hand -- it would be endgame for all of us. You thought Bush was bad? He's brilliant compared to her. She will make an ever better puppet for her masters. Think about that.

Yes, I'm resentful today... Really.

and
Raine

Morning

Well, blogging from home, only reason I'm not still on my way to work is because the bay doors and the trucks have been plowed in. If it hadn't been for that I will be white knuckling it on the road. Which is something I'm probably be doing tomorrow seeing as we're supposed to get ANOTHER 5-12" of snow Tueday and Wednesday. I just don't know how I'm going to get to work in this seeing as Friday we were held till 4:45 and driving home took us 2 hours on roads that no longer had lanes and snow and dark. I"m just a ball of stress at this point

They weren't American Soldiers -- they were mercenaries.

Morning all! Back to the ol' grind..

Comment by wickedpam on 02/08/2010 14:25:01
Oh, I'm sure they'll get it all plowed cause they want to make deliveries asap. And I get that our business is run by selling product but for some reason the big boss has lost site of his employees - its not like we're only getting 2-4 inches its the the 22", 6", 6", 30" and now another possible foot!

They find someone to get the trucks out, we'll open tomorrow and we'll be stuck there till late to make up for today and most likely he will want us in on Wed. Mom is paid hourly and I'm salaried, I have to get her in or she doesn't get paid. Then to top this all off she could possibly have jury duty tomorrow.

Feb has always been a suck month for me, but this is beyond that, all I want to do is curl up in bed and cry

Update: Andrea Mitchell talks about what Sarah did... so at least one member of the media is talking about it.

I don't hate him, I'm just don't like him, just like Julia Roberts or Jennifer Anniston taint everything they are in for me, he falls in that category too

Good Luck!

We still can't get out. We might be able to get down the hill, but NOT back up.

Good morning everyone. Supposed to get hit here Tuesday night into Wednesday. I guess it's payback for ducking the weekend storm that just passed.

Nicole Sandler is filling in for Randi Rhodes today. I guess Randi's too snowed in to get into the studio today.

Comment by Raine on 02/08/2010 16:42:07
That storm is hitting us here too. forecasts are anywhere from 5-12 inches.

But NY isn't gonna dodge it this time.

At least staying on Ring of Fire helps with job security since that's the only show that survived the AAR shutdown.

Thom Hartmann is back on in NY but WWRL runs it on delay from 3-6 like XM following Ed Schultz.

Howdy folks!

An interesting football game last nite, mmm?

I just don't get the teabaggers at all. Not one iota. I used to think Bush supporters were too stupid to walk upright and use simple hand tools; I don't have a metaphor for the teabags, except maybe Foghorn Leghorn.

Sarah is about as keen as a bowling ball. Sharp as a pound of wet leather.

I posted on facebook the other day; the weather is my fault. I bought myself and Javi snowshoes for Christmas. All the snow around here promptly melted, and we haven't gotten any more since.

Although there's talk of about 6 inches come Wednesday....and today is the anniversary of the grandaddy of them all.

'tis sad, but true.

Comment by Will in Chicago on 02/08/2010 21:23:34
John Murtha may have been a conservative Democrat, but he showed how one man with courage can change a debate. While Murtha had his flaws, he had the courage of his convictions in challenging the status quo. It was hard for the right wing pundits to paint him as a peacenik as he supported good care for the troops and had a combat record that Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly likely envied.

Rest in peace, John Murtha.

Raine, excellent blog. Sorry that I have been absent. I have subbed a lot and I am job hunting.
