Happy Birthday America!
Author: velveeta jones    Date: 07/04/2010 13:15:22

Fourth of July! Independence Day! The day Americans celebrate by having BBQ's, shooting off explosive devices, flag waving, drinking beer, parades and of course, listening to Lee Greenwoods "Proud to Be an American" over and over and over and over.

"And I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free"

I'm a cynic. Sorry 'bout that. But many of my fellow countrypeople aren't quite sure about American history or why we celebrate some of our holidays. To say these people tend to be FOX watchers is really..... well okay, it's probably true.

Its the same people that mix up Veterans Day and Memorial Day with stupid questions like "What's the difference?" (Yes, I actually heard this once, "why do we have two holidays to honor the military"). Ye Gads!

"Cause the flag still stands for freedom
and they can't take that away"

Well, except for the prior administration and a little help from our friendly domestic "tourists" like Tim McViegh and who-knows-who's-next from Sean Hannity's "McVeigh wannabes" group. I suppose I could add BP to the list of people taking my freedom, though they are foreign, but supposedly friendly. Hey, maybe they are waging the war over and this time they mean to win?

"And I'll gladly stand UP
next to you
and defend her still today"

As long as you believe in the same things as me.

Recently in North Carolina a group of Atheists put up billboards to remind people that this country has religious freedom. Their message: One Nation, Indivisible was superimposed over an American flag. So, that's not controversial is it?

'Godless' billboard in Charlotte defaced with 'Under God'

A billboard that was put up by an atheist group that purposely omitted references to God has been defaced -- and had the words 'under God' added.

The group sponsoring the billboard responds.

"I would appreciate," Charlotte Atheists and Agnostics Representative William Warren said. "If they would recognize our right to our first amendment rights without defacing our private property."

One of the billboards is on Billy Graham Parkway in west Charlotte -- and it was the one defaced this past weekend.

"We just wanted to promote a message of unity and patriotism," Warren said. "For the 4th of July holiday."

Unity??? Hahahahaha. How silly of ya'll.

"Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land...
God Bless the U.S.A"

Here in FOX news country we have to put down this rebellion before it gets out of hand. You WILL do things our way, or else!

So, excuse me whilst I go roast some nitrate filled hotdogs and plop them on my bleached floured, sugar induced bread. Then I'm going to drink my American Beer (imported) and shoot off some American flag labeled (hecho en Mexico) fireworks!

"I'd thank my lucky stars
to be living here today"

ISLIP TERRACE, N.Y. — Police say a man lighting fireworks has blown off his arm at a party on New York's Long Island.

Suffolk County police say 36-year-old Eric Smith was using a 3-foot long metal tube to shoot mortars from the street near his Islip (EYE'-slip) Terrace home around 5:45 p.m. Saturday.

Police believe he leaned over the device to ignite it and didn't get out of the way before an explosive shot out of the launcher. His left arm was severed at the shoulder.

Smith was taken to Southside Hospital in serious condition while friends packed the lost limb in ice to try to save it. Police believe doctors will try to reattach his arm.

Because only in AMERICA do you have the right to be dumb enough to blow off your arm by showing off and expect it to get reattached.
