The Party of No Jobs

This is the House of Representatives schedule for the rest of the week. Go ahead, click. I had to refresh it a few times, as I could not believe it my self. Here is a picture of the days the House is supposed to be in session. Today being the 10 of February shows to me that they have 7 days left to work on Capitol Hill. According to this:
House Schedule
January 31 - February 4 Constituent Work Week
February 21 President's Day
February 22 - February 25 Constituent Work Week
Three major provisions of the Patriot act are set to expire February 28. One would think, no matter the opinion on the Act, there would be some sort of rush to get something passed. So What has the House been focused on? As Dr. Maddow pointed out last night, they are choosing to focus on taxing abortion, taking away a woman's right to choose, defunding Health care -- and then there is this critical piece of legislation:
Rep. John Kline sponsors legislation to reaffirm ‘In God We Trust’ [snip] Republican Rep. John Kline is a sponsor of a resolution in the U.S. House that would reaffirm “In God We Trust” as the national motto and encourages the posting of the motto on government buildings and in public schools.
I want to know how this resolution and taxing my ovaries is going to supply people with the jobs they so desperately need to get this economy back on its feet. Have they not gotten the memo? PEOPLE WANT JOBS. They can't even get a jobs assistance package to the floor. Instead they are condemning the very Idea of job creation.
“[House Majority Leader Eric] Cantor told reporters Tuesday that if given the opportunity, he will explain to the president that businesses do not have a “responsibility” to the nation or to the government in the way Obama explained in his speech to the Chamber of Commerce earlier this week.
...
“That’s not how it works,” Cantor said. “Because Washington says so — that business or anyone should respond as far as spending money — it’s just anathema to the way I think America works…Washington doesn’t just wave a magic wand and necessarily, business creates jobs.”
Amazing? It gets better, Remember the Stimulus? Think Progress Reports:
Republicans Call For Defunding Half-Finished Stimulus Projects They Once Supported And Took Credit For
As the OMB director Jerry Zients noted, most of the unspent stimulus money the Republicans have targeted is already obligated to specific projects. By cutting off stimulus funds to current projects, Republicans could leave projects half-finished and force mass layoffs at stimulus-funded sites. This wasteful idea is even more cynical given the fact that Republicans have taken credit for major stimulus projects that are still ongoing and could be affected by their new anti-stimulus budget: (see more at link)
That would actually cause more people to be unemployed. That is the EXACT opposite of what people want. Now if Mr. Cantor thinks the President has no right to call on business to start hiring, he damn well better come up with an idea himself. I am sick of Americans suffering at the hands of this rigid trickle down ideology that has been proven time and time again that it is a failure. They are truly making the problem worse, rather than better.

They are not only the party of No, they are the party of No Jobs. They don't even seem to be able to perform their own.
