DNC Final Night Recap

So another Democratic National Convention comes to an end. Last night was the closer, with anticipated acceptance speeches by Vice-President Joe Biden and President Barack Obama. The entire afternoon/night was filled with great speakers and music. James Taylor, Mary J. Blige, and the Foo Fighters all played.
Gabby Giffords brought the house to tears by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. She struggled with some of the words, and had to hold her right hand up to her heart with her left hand, but you could see the life, joy, and pride in her eyes just busting out.
There were appearances by the young and beautiful (and smart and committed) of Hollywood, in the form of Kerry Washington, Scarlett Johansson, and Eva Longoria.
Jennifer Granholm (former Governor of MI and CurrentTV talk show host) lit a fire under the convention with a barnburner of a speech. There were also appearances by James Clyburn (D-SC) and even former FL governor Republican Charlie Crist, who said he didn't leave the Republican party - the party left him. I think there are a LOT of old-school Republicans who are looking at the nutjobs who have taken over their party and thinking the same thing.
Joe Biden's son Beau brought the veep to tears with his nominating speech, and Jill Biden was amazing introducing her husband.
There were also a lot of great quotes from the speakers:
But the night was President Obama's, and he made his case to America to have patience and let him finish the recovery he started:
He also took the credit off of his shoulders for all of the victories thus far and put them onto the audience, proclaiming "You did that" to the crowd. We did it by getting the right people elected, and then pushing them (and the others) to do the right thing via phone calls, letter writing, etc. His "you did that" comment reminded me of a song I wrote 4 years ago (still unrecorded, sorry), inspired by then-candidate Obama's similar invocation: We Are The Change.
We can be the change again. Let's do it!
