gRape Nuts

Sorry I'm late this morning, I was having a bitch fight with some random friend of a friend on the interwebs. A guy that believes that "God" is in the Constitution. "Go check it yourself" said he. "I don't have to" said I. There is no mention of "God" "Jesus" "Christian" or the like in the mother effing Constitution! Hells Bells! If the founding fathers were actual Christians and wanted this nation to be built on Christian ideals, don't you think they would have mentioned Jesus somewhere in the Bill of Rights?

But I digress, as ususal.

This whole "rape" debate has me on edge. Seriously, I am not yet a victim of rape so I cannot completely identify what many thousands of women must be going through while a bunch of men debate this topic, but I know it must be painful and humiliating. I say that I'm not a victim "yet", because there is always a chance that I could be a victim. Worse, I think of my daughter and her friends and know that one of them will be a victim.

This whole thing really really has me on edge. I have begun to divide my friends up into those that support me and those that don't. I've become George W. Bush. You're either with me or against me. I've made it clear on facebook to defriend me if you're voting the Republican ticket, not just Mittens, but the whole lot of them. Because now, if you have an 'R' after your name, you stand for the entire platform. (And any Democrat that supports this should just drop the 'D' and become an Independent or whatever). And right now the platform of the Republican party is to lower the value of women.

Back in 2010 which seems like years ago, at least 2 or more, a smart, witty Senator from Minnesota attached an Anti-Rape amendment to the Defense Appropriations bill. 30 Republican Senators voted against it. Thirty. I remember I rolled my eyes at their insensitivity, but I didn't think that much of it. I mean, they were just doing their normal thing, stopping progress. Now, in hindsight, I think they were doing more than that. I believe these men, white men, really and truly believe in a rape culture and actually support it. That's right, I'm accusing them of being rapists or a least condoning rape.

Maybe we should re-visit the nutjobs. Here is a website that has their phone numbers; perhaps they need a phone calls asking them if they stand with the Republican platform on pro-rape.

The gRape Nuts

I wish I had the voice to call ALL women together to fight this. We need a leader. Hilary Clinton could be that leader but she's kind of busy at the moment. We need someone youngish and smart and has a powerful voice that can bring women together. We need a female MLKjr or Malcolm X.

Until then, there is just me. And you.
