William Barr thinks he can get away with suppressing/hiding/lying about the Mueller report, much like he did in 1989, as reported by Rachel Maddow on Tuesday night.

Take a watch:
For those that see this as too long to watch, from the description:
Rachel Maddow looks back at how William Barr in 1989 as assistant attorney general, declared documents sought by Congress to be confidential and offered his personal summary instead, only to have his ruse exposed years later when the real document was released.
I remember this back in the day. I remember the stock market crashing in 1989. I remember Bush trying to overthrow Noriega. I remember so much of it. It was when I really became activated and started to pay attention to Social Justice. (I wrote about it a few years ago. I'll find the link later, I've already lost this blog once.)

That was 1989. We now live in the year 2019. If my math is right, it's 30 years later. Back then, we had network TV. It consisted of ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS. and, while not network TV, something called Cable News Network: CNN, founded in 1980.

Aside from those news outlets, we had little else as far as network television. There was no FoxNews. There was no MSNBC. It was just that CNN. If you couldn't access news via television, you read newspapers. If you didn't have cable, you only had morning, midday and evening news. There was no internet; there was no twitter; there was no social media.

This is a problem for Barr, Trump, Guiliani and every damn person trying to cover up the Mueller report right in front of our eyes. All of these men still seem to think we exist in a world where this is no social media. All of these men still believe that they can get away with things the way William Barr did back in 1989. 30 years ago (and even further back), people could get away with shenanigans because we had so few outlets to report the news. Some might have read about it if they had access to printed publications like the New York Times, Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times or local publications that used news outlets such as Reuters or the Associated Press.

And - here's something even more important - for all its flaws (and there are a LOT), social media gives us more information than we ever had access to 30 years ago. William Barr is (and Guiliani, and Trump and Hannity and so many others are) using a playbook that is well over 40 years old. They are ignoring a very real fact that more people than ever have access to real news and truthful information.

More people than ever know when they are not being given the whole story. Tomorrow, we will not get the full story. part of which is not simply because we are seeing a cover-up in front of our eyes. Most of it is because people like William Barr live in the past. He really thinks his tricks will work again.

That past won't stand the test of truth nor time (which is much more compressed these days - media-wise). Not in this day and age. We have far more access to truth, news, and most importantly: we can research with far more ease than ever before in our very existence. We know when we are being lied to in the year of 2019.

I take hope in that. This criminal enterprise will not get away with this, even if the Attorney General of the United States of America tries. Truth is like a seed. once it's planted, all it needs is care to make sure it blooms and sees sunlight.
