It is done. For the third time in the 240 or so years we have been a nation, a President has been impeached. What happens next is a bit of a conundrum. Speaker Pelosi indicated last night that she may
delay the Senate trial to help ensure it is fair.
Pelosi told reporters after the vote — that saw Trump impeached for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress — that Democrats were waiting to see how McConnell would lay out the terms of the president's trial before sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate.
Sending the articles to the Senate would formally begin the process of Trump's trial.
"We can't name managers until we see what the process is on the Senate side and I would hope that would be soon. So far, we haven't seen anything that looks fair to us," Pelosi said after the impeachment votes.
Most people agree that the occupant of the office of President of the United States will be acquitted in the Senate. While I generally agree with that, I also think who knows what will happen? The phone call to President-elect Zelinsky happened
the day after Special Counsel Mueller testified before Congress. He was emboldened -- and I suspect he will be emboldened again as he hears that he will be acquitted. It's the nature of that beast.
For now, none of that matters. He's is impeached. Forever. It's now a part of history. I guarantee this will not sit well with him. The next few weeks will be rough for all of us.
For the first time in his very privileged life, he was told
NO. He was told he had to follow rules and put country over self.
I have little faith he will, but this is a stain on his entire life, he is impeached and it is deserved.
