This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it.

Hunt for Red October, 1990

Who would have thunk, that a single line from the late cold-war epic, would be so relevant today?

Our President, the one entrusted with leading the United States in time of war and peace, is completely clueless. Surely it is Godwin, but if you haven't seen "Downfall", you owe it to yourself to check it out. Our President today goes beyond "Self Delusion" and is living in a world not unlike the last days of the Fuhrerbunker. "Cloud-Cuckoo Land".

Ah, but the sycophants and enablers all throughout Mr. Trump's cabinet and capitol - going back a year earlier to Tim Burton's Batman - another single line can sum them all up.

They're drinking Drano.

Of course, if Presidential advice is to be followed, his cult-like worshipers will soon be following suit. I spent some time debating this yesterday with an old friend. He doesn't think the President actually said to inject disinfectant, but his own words are hard to dispute. They even exist on tape!

"I see the disinfectant that knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning?"

Let's go back to 1984 now (Not Orwell), and we listen to the sage Prince Rogers Nelson of Minneapolis, MN. Not sure where Trump's medical degree came from, but here is is in the featured role of "Doctor Everything-will-be-alright".

"Doctor Everything-Will-Be-Alright will make everything go wrong!
Pills, and thrills, and daffodils will kill!
Hang tough, children!

I count among my most favorite books, Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World". In fact, I re-read it on average every 3-5 years. Another one if you haven't read, what are you waiting for? It's not like you don't have the time right now.

In any case - In the year 632 A.F. (about 2579), society has been reduced to rigid classes, menial work, and hedonism and soma. The government relies on decades of something called "conditioning" in order to control the masses. Something like the drones today flocking to Alex Jones, or Brietbart, or Fox News.

“One believes things because one has been conditioned to believe them.”

The novel was written in 1931-32, among the bleakest years of the Great Depression. While the rise of fascism was just over the horizon, it's not that big a stretch to see some future words from a well-known propaganda minister reflected in that tome -

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

Finally circling back to our own genocidal maniac, he seems hell-bent on destroying these United States. We have already balkanized; my state is now part of a regional coalition to share resources and information, as well as coordinating re-opening society. There's a similar coalition on the West Coast, and I also heard the Upper Rockies have banded together as well.

To me at least, this raises the spectre of separation. While we are all symbiotic by nature, we're seeing now that states actually can do things on their own, and they don't need Washington's help. We have returned to the days of the Articles of Confederation, and our so-called "central government" is completely emasculated.

I know we fought a war about this once - but 150 years ago, the reasons were completely different. Any breakup of the United States will of course be met by howls of outrage, but it remains to be seen from what quarter, should it ever occur.

As a native of the heavily liberal, intellectual, Northeast - I would not shed one tear to see Texas, or the entire South, leave the US to form whatever Christian Taliban/Sharia society they choose. I'm sure others in the South feel the same way about the entire Northeast Megalopolis.

But it's all speculation. There's no call for any of that, except right here in my own small mind. Remember, I am the one that's advocating for a military coup, since the President is completely insane, and the Congress is completely irrelevant.

If there was ever a time for the Citizens to rise up, and take matters into their own hands - It is now.

But to finish with our theme of the day...

"I have a bad feeling about this."
