A Fox Rant part II
Author: velveeta jones    Date: 01/04/2009 14:21:21

As I write this morning to fill you in on this weeks events, we are learning that Al Franken is up by 50 + votes! Go Al! We are all rooting for you.

FOX News is none to happy about that, but then, I may be giving them too much credit, as they don't ever seem to be happy unless they have a Dick Cheney interview. If one could label a television network as "miserable" and "most likely to hold a grudge" FOX news would take home this prize each year.

Recently there was some hullabaloo about a text message that aired on New Years Eve. As BobR reported, FOX allowed their brainiac viewers to send a text to them which would then appear on the crawl below the box. Well, it seems that one racist comment made it to the air. Can you imagine that! I'm shocked!

According to FOX news VP of programming Suzanne Scott explained:

We received tens of thousands of text message submissions during our New Years Eve special, and this particular viewer submission was inadvertently cleared for air. At FOX we recognize our error as opposed to networks who allow their hosts to utter crude vulgarities to the public.

Um, let me get this straight. FOX news is going to divert attention to another network? I assume she's referring to the "dicks" comment made by the fabulous Kathy Griffin over at the CNN New Years party. Way to hold a grudge FOX! Very well played.

And how do these two comments compare? One could be labeled as a hate crime while the other could only be labeled as a joke in bad taste. (I found it hysterical and look forward to an opportunity to use it in conversation).

BREAKING NEWS: Al Franken now only ahead by 20 or so votes.

Anyway, back to my rant. One has to wonder just how this comment actually made it to air doesn't one? According to VP Scott the comments had to be "cleared" for air. Cleared. Which means someone has to decipher the drivel that arrives to the FOX network.

I am sorry to be so cruel, but can you imagine what an average FOX viewer regards as a text message, let alone actual text? I picture them looking somewhat like this:

hapy new years 2 all my buds frm clive.

letz kick ass in 09 yo

i wood like 2 date greta van strustern pls hlp

vicki i love u come home the dogs miss u

only a moran would vote for barack hussein osama

get food rid pqha art mnt

My point is, these messages would need serious editing and oversight. So, how did this "Barack the Magic Negro" text get by? I'll tell you:

Wait, more news. Franken now leads by 730 votes! Woot!

Anyway, FOX let this crap get on air, and now tries to convince us that it was an "oversight". Puleeze! Its the same old same old from FAUX news! And they are just showing their loyal morans that they will continue the same.

Franken now leading by only 19 votes. Damn. His head must be spinning.
