It's just a feeling...

There has been a lot said about this draft that was leaked from the Supreme court. You've read them as have I. I am livid, I am tired but I am not so much surprised that this was coming.

What did take my breath away was the absolutist nature of it. I expected death by a thousand cuts, about 500-700 we already have endured. From the Politico Article:
Alito’s draft ruling would overturn a decision by the New Orleans-based 5th Circuit Court of Appeals that found the Mississippi law ran afoul of Supreme Court precedent by seeking to effectively ban abortions before viability.

Roe’s “survey of history ranged from the constitutionally irrelevant to the plainly incorrect,” Alito continues, adding that its reasoning was “exceptionally weak,” and that the original decision has had “damaging consequences.”

“The inescapable conclusion is that a right to abortion is not deeply rooted in the Nation’s history and traditions,” Alito writes. (snip)

Alito’s skewering of Roe and the endorsement of at least four other justices for that unsparing critique is also a measure of the court’s rightward turn in recent decades. Roe was decided 7-2 in 1973, with five Republican appointees joining two justices nominated by Democratic presidents. (snip)

“Roe expressed the ‘feel[ing]’ that the Fourteenth Amendment was the provision that did the work, but its message seemed to be that the abortion right could be found somewhere in the Constitution and that specifying its exact location was not of paramount importance,” Alito writes.
Alito is correct in saying that the word 'abortion' could not be found in the constitution. Do you know what else isn't mentioned?

Childbirth.

There is a lot not mentioned in the constitution, and that's probably a good reason why we have the Bill of rights. here is a brief summary:

1 Freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition.
2 Right to keep and bear arms in order to maintain a well-regulated militia.
3 No quartering of soldiers.
4 Freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures.
5 Right to due process of law, freedom from self-incrimination, double jeopardy.
6 Rights of accused persons, e.g., right to a speedy and public trial.
7 Right of trial by jury in civil cases.
8 Freedom from excessive bail, cruel and unusual punishments.
9 Other rights of the people.
10 Powers reserved to the states.

We also have the rest of the amendments to the constitution because our constitution was designed to be a representation of that so-called "more perfect Union'.

And yet here we are. Radical White evangelicals have taken our country hostage to a bastardization of evangelicalism, with the assist from a radical form of Catholicism led by Alito.

To hell with all other religions in this country. For example: Judaism. This thread is a very good explainer:
