You know the one I mean, when the constantly scheming but dim-witted Looney Tunes predator races off a cliff only to realize, moments later, that there’s nothing beneath him but a canyon floor far below.

This is what is happening to Trump. He’s churning along confident that the MAGA rocket pack that has boosted his political career for the past seven years will continue to carry him forward, intimidating his rivals, and guaranteeing him political relevance and all the grift that goes with it.

But that MAGA rocket pack was apparently supplied by the ACME Rocket Pack Company and as everyone knows, ACME is the only company that rivals Trump’s own enterprises for its record of failures.

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow said Tuesday’s arraignment on 37 federal charges wasn’t the only bad news for Donald Trump.

The former president, she noted, had warned that his arrest would lead to “the biggest protest we have ever had” and predicted that the people of the country wouldn’t stand for it.

“Turns out the people of the United States would stand for it,” Maddow said, noting there were no mass protests in Miami, just as there were few supporters outside the site of his arrest in New York in March.

“There’s no shame in not having people protest your arrest and indictment,” she said. “Except when you have begged people to, and told people to, and in fact promised publicly that people would.”

That, she said, is “personally embarrassing” for Trump.

“If you get in the way of the Democratic Party, if you question their power, if you interfere with their little fiefdom, they will target you, they will come after you and they will try and destroy your life,” claimed the son of the former president.

“It is rape and pillage,” he bombastically continued. “They will burn down the street. It doesn’t matter for these people. They will take out innocent people. They will go after family, they will go after kids.”
