Hi all. The website seems to be working for me now.


I had hoped to muse over the past weekend on the 40th anniversary of "Purple Rain". I know exactly where I was and what I was doing on the Friday night of July 27, 1984. I was there for Opening Day at the old Revere Showcase Cinema. (Long gone.)

This open never fails to send shivers down my spine.

"Ladies and Gentlemen....THE REVOLUTION!"



I watched this earlier this week. All the music still gives me the feels - and I am musing that once again I am inspired to pick up my horn and play again. It's been quite a while; COVID, as always, changed everything.

Watching it with new eyes perhaps....this film couldn't be made today. While the music and performances of course remain timeless, the framework of the story is horribly misogynistic, and the overall treatment of the female characters in the film is quite garbage.

But it is an unchangeable part of my life; it's a big part of who I am today.

Anyway - here's hoping we'll be back to normal here moving forward. As Bob noted on the FB page - this does happen from time to time. As always, we'll soldier on.
