More tough guy talk
Author: velveeta jones    Date: 04/26/2009 14:09:22

What is it with all these tough guys? Why do the weak minded (and I'm being polite here), equate "strength" with being cold, aloof, smug, and must include the bulky appendage of really, really bad one-liners that only sound acceptable on fictional characters in cheesy movies? "You're either with us or against us". "I'll be back". "Bring it on". "Make my day punk". Sheesh. I'm beginning to think George W. maybe always thought he was on a movie set? Just maybe?

As you may recall, Mr. Smirky McSneer, #1 tough guy, "The Dick", pried open his tightly-wound little mouth and spoke at us sideways as he usually does when he has to speak about evil things like gay people, terrorists, peaceniks and liberals.

"I've been concerned at the way we've been presented overseas... What I find disturbing is the extent to which he's gone to Europe and seemed to apologize profusely, been to Mexico and seemed to apologize there," said Cheney. "The world out there, both our friends and foes, will be quick to take advantage of that... I don't think we have much to apologize for."

Describing the Bush administration's policy as to "ignore" Chavez, Cheney said that Obama's handshake was "not helpful... You have people all across South America who are watching how we respond." He added, "The president needs to provide leadership... needs to distinguish between good [guys] and bad guys."

"Ignore". See how tough that is. Brrrrr. You are one cold MoFu.

Okay, so then, ignoring what Mr. Side-Mouth Speaker actually said, lets talk about how tough he really is. This “interview” was held in the comfort of his own home and by his friend, Sean “My Head is Frightfully Big” Hannity. How courageous is that? Would the Dick ever consent to being interviewed by Rachel Maddow (oh, that would be delicious) or even someone as tame as Anderson Cooper and say these same things? I doubt it. Now that he is Private Citizen Dick, he doesn’t have to give anything to the moderates, and especially not to the likes of a Rachel Maddow.

Then there is the tough guy with a big heart. The guy who is so bad-ass that he can say ‘Fuck Global Warming – it’s all a crock and a way for the UN to run the world. I’m gonna burn my SUV all day long on Earth Day’ and then cry because “I love America soooo much…” Of course I speak of Glenn Beck.

All of these losers believe that torture is something we need to do to stay safe. But torture is the cowards way out; its the thing that people with weak minds and weak wills resort to when they llive in so much fear that they cannot think of anything, ANYTHING, else.

There are some REAL tough people in this world:

Freed pirate hostage Shane Murphy after hearing what Rush said about the Somali pirates: "It feels great to be home," said Murphy in an interview with WCBV in Boston. "It feels like everyone around here has my back, with the exception of Rush Limbaugh, who is trying to make this into a race issue...that's disgusting." He went on to call Rush what he is: a coward.

This coming from a man who has more right than any of us, to be angry at the Somali pirates.

Then, there are all those named and unnamed soldiers who protect our Country with their lives, but refuse to torture another human being because it’s immoral. One soldier was apparently so despondent over it she chose her own death over torture.

Thank God for the brave ones.
