There have been a lot of comparisons between the current maladministration and the rise of Hitler in Germany. A lot of those comparisons are apt, including the brownshirts, suppression of the press, demonizing "others", shipping people off to "camps" with appalling human rights abuses, etc. There are, however, some key differences.
Hitler's
rise to power took about a decade, from his initial attempt to overthrow the government, to the rise of the Nazi party, to complete dictatorial control. He did it slowly, and methodically, getting fellow Germans used to a certain discomfort with humanitarian abuses, before moving on to the next step.
He understood the observation of the frog in the pot, turning up the heat slowly.
Pedo McYamTits, however, doesn't have that kind of patience. He's tried throwing the frog into the boiling water, but it keeps hopping out. As a country, we still have the framework of a democratic republic, despite the courts being packed with sympathizers, and a Congress full of bootlickers. Nonetheless, nothing puts the fear into a Congress person more than knowing they have to answer to their voters every 2 years, so we're beginning to see some pushback from some in his party (if not outright resignations). People are marching in the streets, and cellphones have made it nearly impossible for the propagandists to sell their lies.
The other thing Hitler had was his youth. He had time to be patient. The Gold-plated Arse in the White House, however, will be lucky to make it to the end of the year, what with his health problems, much less the end of his term. At this point, he's just trying to leave a physical mark on DC so that people will remember him when he's gone. History will remember him, alright - but just not the way he'd like.
Until then, we need to ensure the frog keeps hopping out of the pot.
Day 380... 1079 to go.
