The Democrats are now damning themselves to become Republican. There, I said it. With recent attacks on Specter, for being an HONEST politician. And you know why he’s honest, he admitted right out he wants to keep his job, and it was impossible to keep his job doing what he was doing. Can anyone reading this honestly say that if you could keep your job, you great cushy job with great benefits you wouldn’t do what he did? I know Stephanie Miller has said time and time again, if it meant getting more stations, she’d become republican. Now I’m sure she’s being humorous but the sentiment it true, we will do what we can to keep our jobs, or even make more money.

I’m now going to fight back. Over the past week I’ve seen extreme amounts a vitriol towards the Senator from Pennsylvania, who a week previous was actually well liked by those here, and the Democratic Party. He was the moderate Republican you could get to vote on issues. He was the Republican you could get to 60 if needed. Now he’s a Democrat, and what…we hate him because he’ll vote with us 50 percent of the time? He’s not toeing the party line?

All this hatred is starting to sound a lot like Freeper madness to me. This irrational hatred of a guy who frankly is doing what is in the best interest of him, which is true of every single person on this planet. This need to have Democrats now vote 100% on core Democratic values. Doesn’t anyone see how this is a bad thing? Does anyone actually pay attention to even the RECENT past. This kind of attitude is what damned the Republicans to a regional party. Republicans failed to grasp the idea of moderates, of having moderate members of their caucus, which in essence is the reason Specter had to jump ship. And Now…Democrats are facing this same issue, and I find it startling how we are choosing to follow the Republicans.

Specter is not a reliable vote on 100% of issues, nor would I want him to be, nor do I want any Democratic Senator, Representative, President, to be. We should welcome decent in our party, because decent brings change, because decent will make us look at ourselves and find ways to better the party, and decent will make the party realize that is not infallible. I may not like the way Specter votes on things, some things, more things, a lot of things. But he is a Democrat. He will bring a new view to the party, and how it does business, whether you like it or not, that is a good thing.

Until last night, I had not heard the term DINO, which I got from Olberman. I knew what it meant, I knew RINO, which is what the right wing loved to call John McCain. So here we are…emulating the republicans…again. Am I honestly the only person to be afraid of that? Or is everyone just that pissy about Specter? And that he may actually have a mind of his own, and actually vote as he damn well pleases on bills? You were happy he voted as he damn well pleased two weeks ago, why aren’t you now?

This crap with Specter, is just that…crap. And to prove it, I am a DINO, by the definitions you wish to call Specter that, so am I.
