The crazy Bachmann Turnover Drive
Author: Raine    Date: 11/05/2009 13:29:35

We have a batshite crazy congressperson holding a rally today in DC to kill Health Care Reform the day after her chief of staff quit, presumably because she is really that crazy. From Politico:
“I’m just not talking about it, and frankly I don’t think there’s a story here,” Marston wrote. “Now, the thousands of people calling our office to tell us [they’re] coming to Capitol Hill tomorrow — that’s a story.”

Marston was referring to the prolific Bachmann’s latest political brainstorm, a “house call” on the Capitol Thursday to which she’s invited Fox News viewers and other conservatives to march with her through House office buildings, “find members of Congress, look at the whites of their eyes and say, ‘Don’t take away my health care.’”
Insanity is what this is. I can only imagine how these folks are going to get past security-- taxpayer paid security I might add, and what they hope to accomplish by scaring representatives. While an aide quitting may not be a huge political story I found it fascinating that her long time aide would just up and quit. Also from the article:
A conservative Republican House member, speaking on the condition of anonymity, suggested that Bachmann’s views — and her willingness to state them — make it hard for her to keep staff.

“When your captain’s crazy, it’s time to find a new ship,” the lawmaker said.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity is also funny to me. I wonder if that person has taken a good look around at the supporters of his party lately. One look at the headlines at Think Progress really says it all:

Michael Steele Takes On Palin, Limbaugh: ‘Your Opinion Really Doesn’t Matter Much’

Limbaugh blames Newt Gingrich for screwing up the NY special election.

Conservatives Mock 72-Hour Window That They Requested To Review Health Care Reform Legislation

Rep. Joe ‘You lie!’ Wilson: I needed to look up ‘dithering’ in the dictionary, but I still agree with Cheney.

Rep. Steve King Praises Lobbyists As ‘Paul Revere’ For Busing In Protesters For Anti-Health Reform Rally

After insisting he’s not ‘crowing’ about GOP victories, Steele gloats by striking the Heisman pose on MSNBC.

Bachmann is not the 'Captain of Crazy' -- she is just one of many on the Ship of Crazy -- with no one steering. It has been well documented, the antics of the GOP as of late, from Joe Wilson, Tom Price, John Boehner, David Vitter, Virginia Foxx, Marc Sanford-- just to name a few. Every day the job of 'Captain' is turned over to someone else. Republicans seem to want Crazy as a requirement to be in the the party these days. One would think that leading a parade of Fox viewers thru congressional offices would be frowned upon and even stopped by senior members of the Republican Party, but I have seen no indication that has happened. Instead they speak off the record to call one person crazy.

Our country is in dire straights and these people are acting like this is a joke. I don't know what to say anymore to people who support this behavior. While they may have valid political concerns, supporting a party like this takes away almost any credibility they may have had to me. The Democrats may need a spine, but at least they aren't letting their members run around the Halls of Congress screaming to try to scare elected representatives. It's not just Bachmann's aide that's no longer Takin' Care of Business.
