Disgust
Author: BobR    Date: 11/06/2009 12:45:06

At some point, you'd think I'd get sick and tired of getting sick and tired. Perhaps I am. Maybe the news media is only reporting stuff to outrage its viewers, but after a week of cramming new info into my head for my new job, I have little patience for this nonsense.

The big story from yesterday was the soldier shrink who went nuts and killed 12 of his fellow soldiers and wounded another 31. It was bad enough that they kept breathlessly feeding us unconfirmed reports that constantly changed, but how relevant was it really that the shooter had a "Muslim-sounding name"?? You expect this sort of thing from FAUX News, but even "bastion of liberal reporting" MSNBC reported it too. How relevant can that possibly be? It's simply inflammatory (to the nimrods in the audience) for the sake of being inflammatory. Disgusting...

The other story yesterday that wanted to be big was the teabaggers once again converging on DC to protest the current healthcare bill. It's bad enough that they are being sponsored by the aforementioned FAUX News, but apparently numerous members of Congress are co-mingling with the sheep to protest... their own House? So we have members of Congress trying to give credibility to a movement being run by a "news" channel... Isn't that dangerously close to fascism? Disgusting...

Not only did the Congress-critters participate, they made complete asses of themselves to boot. Todd Akin (R-MO) botched the Pledge of Allegiance (after giving a speech about its importance), John Boehner (R-OH) confused the Constitution with the Declaration of Independence, and Michelle Bachmann (R-Pluto) ... well - her lips moved, 'nuff said. Right-wing radio douche Mark Levin also disrespectfully knocked the flag on the ground in a flagrant display of clumsy incompetence, but you sort of expect that from those Gomers. Disgusting...

While all this was going on, Chris Dodd (D-CT), penned a letter to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sibelius demanding to know why Wall St. firms were given doses of the H1N1 flu vaccine. Quite frankly, I'd like to know why too, and I'd like to know if it was her doing or not. Most people don't realize that it normally takes a year to create enough flu vaccine for the entire country, so complaints that there isn't enough to go around are unfounded. However, when it's handed over to companies to distribute to employees as they see fit, rather than going to those most in need, then something is seriously wrong. Disgusting...

After all this disgust, it was nice to see one bright spot in the news, however: Fannie Mae is going to offer borrowers a rent option instead of foreclosure. This means that families will be able to stay in their houses, even though they will still technically be losing them. Nonetheless, it keeps the houses occupied, which is good for neighborhoods, and good for the families that would otherwise be homeless. It's also better for the families' credit.

Have a great weekend, ya bastahds, and try not to be disgusted.
