Big News of the Day

Delegates to the United Nations climate conference in Copenhagen held informal talks yesterday during a one-day break from negotiations aimed at crafting a new global climate change treaty.

Amid a sea of protesters, this conference could be the cornerstone of President Obama's commitment to once again being a member of "the believers". That is, that the United States will acknowledge Global Climate change and be a part of the solution to solving our planets dire problem.

However, As the 12-day conference entered its second week, analysts reported little progress in replacing the current treaty, the Kyoto Protocol, which expires in 2012.

Overshadowing the conference of course, is the debate of the Tiger Woods sex scandal. World leaders held meetings to discuss his text messages and to rate the white women that he allegedly wooed.

Representatives from China were thrilled with the use of naked bathroom pictures proposed by Tiger to cocktail waitress and former reality TV star Jamiee Grubbs:

"I will wear you out...when was the last time you got (bleeped)?" one message from Tiger read.

Another one from Tiger read, "Send me something very naughty...Go to the bathroom and take (a picture)."

While both India and the UK thought the use of taking pictures in the bathroom seemed rather seedy, even for a cocktail waitress.

The Conference ended its day on Friday with the breaking news that Tiger had as many as 13 mistresses come forward! France was ready to give him the Ordre National du Mérite - one of the countries highest civilian medals - while Italy weighed in that that was still an under achievement.

By Saturday the leaders were back to discussing Global Climate change and the soon to expire Koyoto Protocol and managed to hammer out and release a draft charter outlining ambitious carbon gas reductions over the next four decades. Under that draft, industrialized nations would reduce carbon emissions from 1990 levels by 25 to 45 percent in the next decade. Major developing economies such as China and India would reduce theirs by 15 to 30 percent. Further cuts would be mandated until 2050.

However, the draft does not specify how much money rich countries will give poorer ones to cope with the effects of global warming.

Then, with unruly protesters bearing down on them, the stunning news came through: Tiger Woods is taking an indefinite leave from professional golf! A stunned panel read the statement that was posted on his website which said he needed to work on saving his family.

By Saturday night the leaders gathered around to watch the American news about Tiger, not on E! or Comedy Central, but on CNN, MSNBC and certainly FOX News, as this important story lead the headlines of every major news organization. Only PBS gave it a cursory glance - but who watches PBS news shows anyway?

They, like the entire world need to know: when will he return to golf? when can we read all the sexy text messages? how is is wife? how many others are out there? when do we get more details of his allegedly ginormous "club" and his ability to drive? is there any video?

We MUST find this out - before the ice melts and the sea levels rise and the Earth comes to an end. Someone get us this info! Do Something! Be a part of the solution - we need answers!
