Elitist Girl Power!
Author: velveeta jones    Date: 02/07/2010 14:04:23

Elitism is the belief or attitude that those individuals who are considered members of the elite — a select group of people with outstanding personal abilities, intellect, wealth, specialized training or experience, or other distinctive attributes — are those whose views on a matter are to be taken the most seriously or carry the most weight or those who view their own views as so; whose views and/or actions are most likely to be constructive to society as a whole; or whose extraordinary skills, abilities or wisdom render them especially fit to govern.

Morning dear readers. Hey, here's a question: How's that hope-y, change-y stuff workin' out for ya?

This was a question posed by a folksy, small-town, working-class girl with a perky hairdo, a twinkle in her eyes and a bright and friendly "come-on-up-to-the-porch-for-a-lemonade" smile.

My response was: "How's that bitterness and status quo workin' out for YOU?" Hmmm?

Sarah is a favorite of the Tea Party. The same people that adorn themselves with teabags at protests and call themselves tea-baggers without hint of irony or shame, stand and chant, "Run, Sarah, Run". Clearly, they don't understand that Sarah Palin could care less about most of them. Unless they have power, money or would make a good photo-op she wouldn't give one of those overweight, junk-food eating, white goobers anything more than a quick handshake from her exquisitely manicured, Purell-sanitized hand, only to move on to the back seat of her limo with her security detail to her next money making or career building opportunity.

Don't believe me? Why, Sarah was paid $100,000 for a speech that lasted about 35 minutes, was clearly not written by her, and (pay attention Obama haters) was read off a telepromter. (I noticed during the staged Q and A that followed she also read something off of her left hand. Crib notes. Really). That's about....... um....... almost $200,000 per hour or over $3,000 per minute!

Now, in her defense, she has stated that the money she makes will go back to the "Tea Party Movement" but has not elaborated any more than that on the subject. I suspect it will be used for clothing, shoes, accessories and hair quaffing for herself as she attends more tea party publicity and fund-raising events throughout the country in the next coming months.

Oh yeah, she's a populist alright.

Meanwhile, a woman who does not claim to be an elitist, but certainly a ground-breaker, is Danica Patrick. A women who may get me interested in once again in stock-car racing, or, as they now call it, NASCAR™.

From ESPN news:
Gerhart's record sixth ARCA victory at Daytona International Speedway was overshadowed by the successful stock car debut of the IndyCar star [Patrick], who rallied from a midrace spinout to finish sixth Saturday in the crash-filled race.

Danica Patrick I bumped from the side. I bumped from the front. I got bumped from the back. I learned a lot, and I had so much fun in a race car today. So I can't wait to do it again.

"It was a lot of fun," Patrick said. "I bumped from the side. I bumped from the front. I got bumped from the back. I learned a lot, and I had so much fun in a race car today. So I can't wait to do it again."

Patrick's first foray into stock car racing was widely anticipated, and she didn't disappoint.

Go, Danica, GO!!
