Bombs and Money
Author: velveeta jones    Date: 03/20/2011 14:28:45

There are so many things going on this week that Velveeta’s poor little brain nodule is playing a game of Pong on top of a game of Astroids with the Space Invaders theme playing in the background! It’s truly a jumble salad, made worse by lack of sleep.

There is so much going on in the world today. Why, only less than 10 days ago we were worried about the Japan Tsunami. Remember that? We watched in horror as the force of water upon Japan washed away whole cities. As the death toll continues to climb, we hardly mention the “water” except where it relates to getting it on the Nuclear reactors that threaten the country and the rest of the world in some part.

This starts our debate here in the US regarding nuclear power and our use. Frankly, a conversation that we should have been talking about up front, all along; I mean we are only one disaster away from the same travesty that is happening in Japan. My biggest concern is the fact that we use Nuclear power without some clear method of getting rid of the waste made from it. This stuff tends to hang around for a few (thousands) of years. And lest we forget: a shitload of money to dispose of. Interestingly enough, there is not much from the DOE on the disposal of nuclear waste in how much it costs, etc. (There is plenty of documents to download, just not enough time in the day to read through it all to find the info).

There’s a website devoted to Yucca Mountain here but it doesn’t’ really tell us much about what the actual costs are in terms of not just money, but our future and the effects on the environment.

In other big news, we are bombing Libya. Now I am not opposed to bombing Libya personally, not being a big fan of Colonel Kaddafi/Gadhafi/whatever. But I have to wonder, why Libya? Why didn’t we stop the oppression of peoples in Rwanda, Sudan, D.R. Congo or the Ivory Coast for example? Why not? I can only think of one reason and it rhymes with EMBROILED.

Have a great Sunday.

Sorry, but this WND article is a must see to be believed.
The Muslims want to tear down the Statue of Liberty! It's an "idol."

(snip)

This new al-Qaida magazine for women has beauty tips and suicide-bomber tips! Gimme a break! That is as ridiculous as two men kissing on the mouth! And I don't care what is politically correct. Everyone knows that two men on a wedding cake is a comedy skit, not an "alternate lifestyle"! There I said it! Ridiculous!

Did you see "Glee" this week? Sickening! And, besides shoving the gay thing down our throats, they made a mockery of Christians – again! I wonder what their agenda is? Hey, producers of "Glee" – what's your agenda? One-way tolerance?

I know that one of Bill Clintons biggest foreign policy regrets was not doing anything about Rwanda.

As to the rest, with the exception of the Ivory coast -- there was another person in office. I don;t know if tis is so much about the oil that America consumes -- as bob pointed out earlier in the week, less than 2% of our imports are from Libya. While I won;t discount this as having some motive based in oil,(more for Europe, as Libya supplies a LOT of oil for europe) I really think that this has far more to do with Qaddaffi perpetuating a genocide on his people.

I am highly conflicted. I really am.

I am truly left wondering, when is a good time to use military force? I don;t think the answer is never. I am pretty sure the victims of WWll would agree --

I almost think we waited to long to get involved with that. We needed to find out about concentration camps to get involved with the German theatre, if my memory serves me correctly.

Raine, the Allies knew about the concentration camps before the troops reached the territory that Germany conquered, let alone Germany. I would recommend the book "While Six Million Died" by Arthur D. Morse for an account of what various governments knew and did not do.

Raine, here is a link to the reviews on Amazon that includes a very personal account of someone who survived the concentration camps.

Thank you will, I was incorrect.

My apologies.
