The Candidates, pt 4
Author: velveeta jones    Date: 05/15/2011 14:58:29

Continuing our look at the candidates for the End of the World presidential election we'll focus today on Ron Paul who recently threw his hat into the ring this past Friday the 13th.

Ron Paul is a Doctor (Ob-Gyn) and father of 5, including one son - Rand Paul (R-KY) - that serves in the House alongside his father. His other children are Ronald Paul, Rufus "Ru" Paul, Richard Paul, and daughter Ronald-Ayn Paul-Johnson-Smyth.

Ron Paul was elected to the House of Representatives from the state of TX in 1976 after beating Democrat Robert Gammerge by only 33 votes. It was later learned that he may have cheated in the election by delivering so many babies and treating so many woman that the mothers of his district were concerned he might talk about their vaginas.

Ron has been married 6 times less than Newt Gringrich, which means only one wife so far. I personally think that is a very strong point and shows that he is a man of high moral turpitude.

Despite his advanced age and his quaint feebleness, the younger kids seem to love him and he has a rather large fan base. Admittedly, many of his fans are 18-40 year old men that wear Star Wars T-shirts, giggle over Howard Stern's antics and have never had a girlfriend, but they remain a viable force in his campaign.

In Mr. Paul's last run for President - this is the third try - he used a bizarre ad campaign that spelled the world "LOVE" backwards inside of the word "Revolution". There were many theories why this word was red-highlighted, everything from a satanic message to the fact that he's hinting that he is gay. To this day it remains a mystery just like the Beatles "I am the Walrus".

Ron Paul has some interesting idea's that voters from all different political spectrum's can agree with, even the most fervent Tea Party member to the most Liberal of Democrats. But just has he has you restoring your faith in Politicians, he'll blurt out something that will sound so crazy that your head will cock to the side so that you'll need a chiropractor to fix your neck. Something like legalizing heroin, prostitution and dog fighting, banning public schools, or using kittens for fuel, are just a few of his many strange ideas. Certainly he'll pick up the "dog-fighting pimp" votes and quite a few of the "Mob" vote. There's a constituency you'd love to serve, right?

Ron Paul is a "Constitutionalist" which means that if it's not in the Constitution, than the Federal Government shouldn't be involved. For example, our founders didn't notice Global Climate Change, or, if they did, didn't see fit to include it in their fine work, so it's up to the states to decide what to do about it. The same holds true for the Patriot Act and the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq all of which Paul is firmly against. Other things not in the original Constitution: rights for women, blacks, gays. Oh well.

An example of how life would be under President Ron Paul. He is against "Obamacare" but he certainly acknowledges that our healthcare system is broken. Mr. Paul wants us to go back to a simpler time (the "good ol' days"?) when doctors treated poor people for free! Ron remembers those days like they were yesterday. Of course this was before big Pharma and their lobbyists tied doctor hands while bribing them at the same time, before expensive high-tech machines that can help doctors diagnose and save lives, and before the massive amounts of paperwork needed to track patients to prevent everything from mistakes to frauds. Yes, back in the day's when you had a family doctor who would visit you with his black bag at your home and treat you for everything from a bug bite to a broken leg and put it on your tab with a cheery "see you at Church on Sunday" wave goodbye.

From his book Revolution: A Manifesto:

In the days before Medicare and Medicaid, the poor and elderly were admitted to hospitals at the same rate they are now, and received good care. Before those programs came into existence, every physician understood that he or she had a responsibility towards the less fortunate and free medical care was the norm. Hardly anyone is aware of this today, since it doesn’t fit into the typical, by the script story of government rescuing us from a predatory private sector.

What he fails to mention in the above statement is that Doctors these days pay 100's of thousands of dollars to become a doctor and this type of free care would mean that anyone poor in this country could never be a doctor. He also forgets that back in the "Good Ol' Days" doctors often misdiagnosed because they didn't have the technology available to them. And, most importantly mean that doctors would never set up shop in poor area's because, well, they'd never make ANY money since they'd only be treating the poor.

Basically, he remembers the good ol' days like most old white guys. It was good for them.

Ron Paul in 2012, slogan: Older than John McCain but just as mean!

I think the Tea Party mantra and other so-called "Libertarians" should just be honest and say America was great when only rich white guys ran things.

Doing another marathon shift at the salt mine with Reds HD in the afternoon and then the evening in MSG with Red Bulls soccer and then Hockey Night Live.

A breakthrough in the Rabbit household today.

The last couple of days Sophie has been coming out to the living room when it's feeding time and the other cats are getting fed. She then gets hers in her "room". This morning while the other cats were sleeping elsewhere, I decided to plop Sophie in front of the other cats (they pick from both) dishes and she ate some then scampered back to her room.

Just a few minutes ago I was reheating a roast that my wife's friend cooked last night. Guess who showed up in the kitchen.... . ..Sophie. I rewarded her with some roast and she gobbled it right down. I cut off some more and tried to give it to all 3 cats and a catfight ensued. Oh well.

I did learn that Sophie seems to like "people food" and the other cats have never cared for it. While I wanted to reward her for "coming out", I don't want to get into the habit of giving out "people food"

The wife's iPod is now running the proper iOS4, I think it's in a happy state. Still have quite a few shows to download before iTunes will quit complaining.

The cat in my house usually doesn't get people food but once in a while she'll get cheese as a treat. That she will lap up if she smells it.

I'd just like to point out that Rand doesn't serve along side Daddy in the House. He's in the Senate.

What? Are you implying that my research is less than stellar?

How dare you, sir!
