Crabs in a Boiling Pot~A Fable July 24, 2011
This fable is not related to the President in any fashion; it is to describe people like Cornel West and other black so-called scholars and pseudo-intellectuals.
A Fable: (from Whose Planet Is It Anyway? by abfh (Autistic B), February 11, 2008
“A bunch of crabs were sitting in a barrel at a seafood restaurant, waiting to be cooked. One of them said to the others, “Hey, you know what, if we all climb to the top and push on the lid, it’ll come off and then we can escape.”
The other crabs all laughed. They knew it was impossible to escape. What could this foolish dreamer be thinking? It was nonsense. Couldn’t be done. Not even worth trying. After a few minutes, when it was clear he wouldn’t be getting any help, the one hopeful crab climbed up and started pushing on the lid alone.
The other crabs just laughed harder, until they heard a faint creaking noise and realized that the lid was starting to shift a little. Then they all got angry. How dare one crab try to escape by himself? He was just another crab, and he needed to be shown that he was no better than the rest of them.
So they grabbed the crab who had been trying to escape and dragged him back down to the bottom of the barrel. They all got cooked and eaten soon afterward, but at least they had the satisfaction of knowing that no other crab was able to achieve more than they had”.
This fable describes perfectly people like West, Smiley, and a whole of other black people who call themselves "black scholars".
I have been around for long enough to have seen the characteristics described in the fable above many, many time among my community. The fable describes the “crabs in a barrel syndrome” which, in my opinion perfectly fits people like West, Tavis Smiley, and a whole host black commentators, pundits and gasbags that appear on networks (CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, and Fox) at the behest of the white excuses for journalists that pollute the air waves for the sole purpose of trashing the President.
We all know and see daily what the excuses for journalist do in this country to try to undermine the President. But there are some things that they don't have the man-parts (or woman) enough to say so they bring on these "black crabs" to do the deed.

That's happened twice before along that stretch of road. One particularly bad one happened in the 50s; a school bus full of kids was involved in the fireball. Another incident in the early 70s resulted in an entire interchange being re-designed. It's not a safe stretch of road.
3 of the 5 worst intersections in the entire Commonwealth are in that stretch. (Essex & Broadway, Main & Broadway, and Walnut & Broadway.)

Um actually the Prez can propose legistlation. A senator or congressman needs to introduce it.
Quote by wickedpam:
I could have sworn that someone asked the prez about the 14th admendment at the town hall in MD last week. He said he'd had lawyers look at it and they didn't feel that he had a legal way to use it.

I'm rather fond of the artificial corks. Even George Dubuoef has been using them on the BJN in recent years.
(Easier to remove than natural...and they don't crumble!)

Ya know, in all this handwringing over the hostage negotiations and all the unfounded fear-driven outrage at Obama that's taken over a large majority of the activist left..
One fact stands out above the rest - Extending the Bush Tax Cuts again is NOT part of any of these negotiations. It's not even up for consideration, except maybe in Cantor's garbage plan that is going nowhere. Which means that when Obama and Reid claim that their plans are revenue-neutral, you'll actually be pleased to know that they're lying through their teeth!
What Harry Reid did yesterday was essentially call the GOP’s bluff by outlining a plan that raises the debt ceiling by $2.7 trillion and includes $2.7 trillion in spending cuts, a healthy share of which comes from winding down the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Republicans are rejecting this even though it nominally meets their demands. Why? Because it doesn’t achieve either of their two real objectives. In particular, the plan doesn’t cut Medicare, which means that Democratic party candidates for office in November 2012 and 2014 can accurately remind voters of the content of the Republican budget plan. In case you forgot, this plans repeals Medicare.
..snip...
Second, while Reid’s plan doesn’t raise taxes, it also doesn’t take tax increases off the table. Currently, the Bush tax cuts are scheduled to expire in 2012. If Reid’s all-cuts plan passes, that still leaves the door open to significant revenue increases. Now that doesn’t mean this is brilliant 11-dimensional chess. The Reid Plan is consistent with substantial revenues coming online in 2012, but that will only happen if President Obama and Senate Democrats stand firm and play hardball on the tax issue. Back in December 2010, they utterly failed to do so.

I have been reading that this possible Reid plan is revenue nuetral because it means the Bush Tax cuts WILL expire.
And I reading that right, Scoop?

I haven't had a chance to read into the details of Reid's plan.. but from what I'm hearing the Republicans don't like it because it doesn't cut Medicare and it's a larger/more comprehensive plan than anyone else has come up with, including Obama.

If ever there were two crabs...Cornell West and Tavis Smiley are ridiculously childish and appear smaller every time they open their mouths. Smiley is STILL pouting because he waited until two weeks before his hot air event to contact now President Obama with an invitation. OF COURSE, the President was already booked. But he offered to send FLOTUS Obama as proxy. Tavis refused, which was ridiculous, and has been pouting ever since, losing his fan base from TJMS because they too thought he was being ridiculous. West lost all credibility with me by joining Tavis with their crabs in a barrel mentality and misusing the word "love" to cloak their verbal daggers. While Tavis has thought of himself as the "new Black American leader and voice" many have stopped listening. All talk and no real action can't even fly a hot air balloon and generally renders one impotent in relevancy. Their true agenda is just to hawk their books; they aren't leaders of anything except the crabs in their barrel.

Cornel West has a long history of dickishness. Look at his long running dispute with Harvard. The president of the univerity has a quaint notion that West do the job he was hired to do, you know teach. Not making rap albums, setting up an exploratory committee for Al Sharpton for president, but actually teach.
