Armenian Genocide, it ain't so!
Author: Raine    Date: 10/15/2007 12:41:38

Why the President won't recognize it and why he is in good company...

Last week the President said the following, regarding the House resolution condemning the deaths of 1.5 Million Armenians as genocide:

"We all deeply regret the tragic suffering of the armenian people that began in 1915. This resolution is not the right response to these historic killings."

Did you know that Ronald Reagan called the Armenian Massacres a genocide? Did you know that in 2000, W did as well? Well they both did. But then, Bush changed his mind. He did it because of politics.

When it comes to genocide, the President is in good company in denying the acknowledgment of human atrocities for political gain.

Exhibit #1) Mahmoud Ahmadinejad... he denies the holocaust exists. Interesting considering the meaning of Iran is ARYAN. Mahmoud knows of this. He knows it as well just as Bush knows that genocide occurred in Armenia... and both leaders know that politically it benefits them to deny the reality of life. (The man might be the Iranian version of Rush Limbaugh.... please stay tuned for further blog posts about this...)

Exhibit #2) Charles Taylor (former president of Liberia), who was behind the Civil War in Sierra Leone, I call it genocide. .. The R.U.F. were backed by him... he denies it was a genocide...

Exhibit #3) all those that deny what Slobodan Miloševiæ did to terminate any non serbians. You think he ended up in the world court by mistake???

Everyone that I mentioned had political reasons to deny a genocide. So does GW Bush. He is no better than any of the deniers I mentioned. George W Bush wants to deny Armenia.

Bottom Line, When Bush tries to deny America the right to acknowledge what 24 other countries have already acknowledged... That the Turks engaged in genocide to remove the Armenians... Our president becomes a genocide denier in very very evil company. Bush is like Ahmadinejad!

I recognize what Armenians when thru. Holocaust survivors do as well... I wish our president could too, but he chooses to remain in denial Like Taylor, Ahmadinejad and Miloševiæ. It is the only way to keep on the path. Defeat is not an option.

Bush is like so many that would deny a people the right to truth after they have been put thru hell...
With these guys, Humanity and peace and reality are inconvenient truths... Genocide is just not convenient. Not for Bush, not for Taylor, not for anyone, actually except those that would gain from it politically by denying it existed

Shame on Dubya. Shame on him.
:peace:

Curious thing, about Bush and the Dictators...

I posted a story on the MB about how Sec. Rice thinks that Putin has become 'too powerful' and is a 'threat to Democracy'.

I guess this means that the administration is only happy when the whole world opposes us.

The unintentional irony of that statement vis-a-vis the current administration is astounding.

Did you see the link from yesterday, where the fox and friends folk actually said patraus... YES, that guy... should have won the PEACE prize!

Comment by TriSec on 10/15/2007 13:33:54
I saw that, Raine.

I also saw on MSNBC Sunday am on one of the news shows, the right was attacking the Nobel commission for awarding the prize in the first place.

Classic case of "attacking the messenger".

I didn't get to hear all of it. But I have heard it. They just do not understand the concept of peace. They don't understand the ideas of Gandhi or MLK.

I remember during the first Gulf War, some right-wing blowhole said that if King were still alive he would have supported the Gulf War. Guess, he didn't hear King;'s speech against the Vietnam War.

He was replacing Jane Swift. The GOP could have run a stiff board with a nice wig and he would have won. (Hey, wait a minute.....)

In 2002, Republican Lieutenant Governor Jane Swift was expected to campaign for the governor's office. Swift had served as acting governor after Republican Governor Paul Cellucci resigned upon being appointed U.S. Ambassador to Canada. Swift was viewed as an unpopular executive, and her administration was plagued by political missteps and personal scandals.[35] Many Republicans viewed her as a liability and considered her unable to win a general election against a Democrat.[36] Prominent GOP activists campaigned to persuade Romney to run for governor.[37] One poll taken at this time showed that Republicans favored Romney over Swift by more than 50 percentage points.[38] Swift decided not to seek her party's nomination.

The Democrats put up Shannon O'Brien, who was only the state treasurer and a weak statewide candidate.
