Things I won't write about
Author: TriSec    Date: 07/21/2012 12:00:49

Good morning!

It's a delightful Saturday morning in these parts, and I'm hopefully going to sit in the sun hard for a good chunk of it. Javi is headed out to Canobie Lake Park for the day...a friend's birthday party is going on up there.

It's been a whale of a week, hasn't it?

There's so much going on, but doesn't it feel like we've been here before?

I could write about the Boy Scouts today, but I've been doing that here for five years already. You all know my position, so I don't think another blog on the subject is going to help.

I could write about Mitt Romney.....but again, we've been doing that for the last four years. Even my unique position of having lived through the Romney regime in Massachusetts really doesn't give me any more special insights, so I think I'll leave that alone.

Massachusetts just came off a lengthy heat wave, and my hometown was under an honest-to-goodness tornado warning the other day. A friend back in town actually dropped everything and took shelter in his cellar when the warning came through. But Bob has already written a blog about that, so I'll skip it.

Although I'm sure we don't, sometimes it feels that the United States leads the world in massacres and shootouts. I've done crazy things like stand in line for hours for tickets, go to the first midnight showing, and I'm rather proud of my geek cred that I have seen all six Star Wars movies on opening day...including two first showings. (Episode IV and I) Nevertheless, Pam has already written a blog about that, even if it was last year. Rehashing that won't edify anyone any more.

So....that's what I'm not writing about today.

But that leaves me with nothing to actually write about....so instead, how about we all just take a deep breath, go outside and enjoy the weather, and maybe later, let's have some ice cream? It's been a hell of a week, I think we could all use a break.

It's overcast and drizzly here, but should clear up later. I was going to a beer club swim meeting, but it doesn't seem like swimming weather, and it's way out in the boonies, and this is the last day my niece is in town, so I'll join her and the wife for a last run through the city before she goes home instead.

And afterwards, instead of ice cream, we'll be having frozen custard at The Dairy Godmother

I want some Ice Cream although it has cooled down here after yesterday's rain-o-thon. It makes it hard to believe it was almost 100 just three days ago.

Oog, it's hot.

Sitting in the sun hard today....I am a semi-retired professional sunbather; nobody believes me that it's hard work.

Shall we start calling you Zonker?

I have the rest of an ice cream sundae to finish later today. It is a quiet day here.

We did spend the day out and about.

Went to Eastern Market Went to chinatown and had lunch at the Wok and Roll --- formerly the Mary Surratt boarding house of the co-conspirators (John Wilkes Boothand crew) to the Lincoln Assassination, we then walked over to the NAtional Portrait Gallery say a few featured exhibits.

A trip to the Dairy Godmother happened and then we walked around Old Town for a little while. It was actually a really nice day even with the misty rain.
