I must be getting soft. My right-wing friend brought up Chappaquiddick on Facebook, and instead of immediately washing my hands of him and de-friending (as is my usual policy), I have given him a pass.
I did get a chance to meet Joe Kennedy yesterday at a local campaign event, so he had to make a snide comment about it.

I think this is appropriate. 5 year probation, possible formal charges for individuals, the NCAA is going to appoint a monitor.
Also, players can transfer without penalty.

but doesn't that then punish players who aren't even at the school yet?
Don't get me wrong I'm no advocate for college sports, in fact I think there is too much attention paid to them, but I worry about students who get there on sports scholarship who wouldn't otherwise be able to go to a college like PS being punished for things that weren't their fault.

the NCAA is an association that colleges can be a part of. Therefore those schools need to follow guidelines set by the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
Post season are Bowl games. The NCAA can fine the school for not adhering to said guidelines.

Post season are Bowl games. The NCAA can fine the school for not adhering to said guidelines.

Yes, it does. It takes away the Glory of Penn State. I believe rightfully so. What happened there might not have been the fault of the students, but it was the culture of the administration and therfore the school that allowed this to happen.

There are still scholarships, and kids can still play -- so basically -- what this does is neuter their stronghold in the NCAA. They aren't competitive like they were, but kids can still get a good education.

I knew this. I have never tasted any of their products, nor do I have any desire to. We have also stopped calling Domino's for pretty much the same reasons. (Never mined that it tastes like ass-wiped cardboard.) There's much better local chicken and pizza, anyway.

Mornin' all & Happy Mondee.. 
Well, it was bound to happen eventually. I've known for a while I suffer from sleep apnea and have been meaning to get it professionaly diagnosed & treated, but I have this nasty habit of procrastinating. Anyways, in combination with the allergy meds I've been taking in abundance lately it's starting to affect my work. My boss has caught me narcoleptic at my desk several times. Thankfully he's the most awesome boss ever and my work ethic is really good, so his only reprimand was to demand that I see a doctor ASAP.

I've known for a while I suffer from sleep apnea and have been meaning to get it professionaly diagnosed & treated, but I have this nasty habit of procrastinating. Anyways, in combination with the allergy meds I've been taking in abundance lately it's starting to affect my work. My boss has caught me narcoleptic at my desk several times. Thankfully he's the most awesome boss ever and my work ethic is really good, so his only reprimand was to demand that I see a doctor ASAP.

The thing to remember is that Tom Monahan no longer owns the company for years. When he did own it, we stopped ordering from them for the same reasons as clan TriSec. Now the only reason not order from them is the ass-wiped cardboard one. I likee that phrase, Mr Sec.

NCAA Hits Penn State With $60 Million Fine, Postseason Ban, Loss Of Scholarships And Wins
AP/The Huffington Post | Posted: 07/23/2012 9:18 am Updated: 07/23/2012 11:35 am
One day after the statue of Joe Paterno was removed from outside of Beaver Stadium on the Penn State campus, NCAA President Mark Emmert announced sanctions resulting from the football program's role in the sexual abuse scandal involving former defensive coach Jerry Sandusky. On Sunday, the NCAA announced its intention to implement "corrective and punitive measures" against Penn State.
On Monday, Emmert presided over a press conference in Indianapolis and revealed sanctions, including a hefty fine, a postseason ban, and loss of scholarships and previous wins.
"Football will never again be placed ahead of educating, nurturing and protecting young people," Emmert said during a press conference that lasted approximately 45 minutes.
Penn State Punishments:
$60 million fine, representing approximately one year of football revenues. These funds will go to child sex abuse awareness programs.
4-year bowl game ban.
Scholarship reduction, cap lasting four years.
Any entering, returning football student athlete can transfer immediately. Presuming academic requirements are met, these potential transfers can play immediately.
PSU vacates all wins from 1998-2011. The loss of 111 career wins drops Joe Paterno from atop the all-time wins list to 12th.
PSU begins a five-year probationary period, with the NCAA reserving the right to implement further punishments.

Good day, folks. Day off but I might have to run out to try and find something in storage (and there's a lot of crap in storage) so wish me luck. I have been hitting the wall with my expenses this month. The 4-year long money situation has now reached the point that I had to cash in a pension plan (and take the early penalties as well) in order to finally declare bankruptcy so that I can finally get everything behind me. I kept hoping I would come up with the money to finally do it but it seemed like I just squeaked by the last few years but this year, it has gotten worse due to the loss of overtime and the creditor suits against me piling up that I am not able to even make my bills again. I should be getting my money in early August but I have to figure out what to do until then since I am tapped out until that date and when I get paid, I will be lucky just to get what I need done.
