Divide

And now we come to the time when we begin the task of digging the grave for the Republican party. The party has died. No more Grand Ol' Party, no more red, white and blue Elephant with its three stars; the elephant will be buried next to Teddy Roosevelt.
The party that once believed in and fought the causes of abolition, small government, woman's suffrage and free speech really began to go comatose with Ronald Reagan, though there where signs of serious heart malfunction as early as Herbert Hoover.
The party will split into two parties, we'll call them (for now, until someone decides on brand names) The Tea Party and the MOP (Moderate Old Party). Plans are already in the works:
The differences between the two may be subtle to those on the outside, but are quite clear to believers.
The Tea Party believes in a government so small that the post office (private companies like FedEx) will often accidentally deliver mail to the house next door. Fiscal responsibility will be the motto of what is left of the government: no funding of anything except the military and homeland security (which is the only department to get bigger). States will run their own education, tax system, etc. The Tea Party will abide by the Constitution, knowing that the founding fathers really meant to put the word God in it and that obviously, this was THE God and not some pagan/weird one. They are against abortion in ALL cases and believe that a rapist should have parental rights equal to the Mother/victim. Birth control, for women, should be illegal. That corporations are people and should have equal rights including the right to vote. Start digging for oil and natural gas and coal every where possible; since the EPA will be gone, this will be easier. Encourage the states to abide by a flat tax, the only fair system.
The MOP platform will be the same except for putting Ayn Rand on the $10 Bill, they prefer Ronald Reagan. And, they would not immediately "bomb the bejesus out of all Muslim countries".
The division of the party will happen as soon as they can stop crying and pull themselves together.

Mitt Romney's loss to President Obama on Tuesday unleashed predictable angst and debate in a Republican Party that must now decide how to attract a more diverse electorate.
But for conservatives who identify with the tea party, one emotion seemed to dominate all others: a white-hot anger at the Republican establishment. Tea party supporters are angry at the GOP for embracing as its presidential nominee a "moderate" like Romney. For undermining "true conservative" candidates. And for "choosing to ignore" the conservative agenda.
Wednesday, the political direct-mail pioneer Richard Viguerie gathered a group of disenchanted conservatives for a news conference in Washington. Calling Romney's loss "the death rattle" of the GOP, Viguerie, chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, said, "The battle to take over the Republican Party begins today."
He called upon the Republican leadership to resign for its part in the "epic election failure of 2012." That includes Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, who has not announced whether he will run for the post again, House Speaker John A. Boehner of Ohio and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.

Veelveeta, I fear that the GOP will be very obstinate in dealing with the President and the Democrats. I am not sure what will happen to the GOP. They realistically should be at least two different parties. Then again, the Democrats would be at least two parties in other countries.

The perception has always been that the Democrats were the "Liberal" if not "Leftist" Party while the Republicans were "Moderate Conservatives" but if you look at the composition of the parties today, it would be that the Democrats are more a "Centrist" party while the GOP has become an extreme right party with its corporatist and American Christian Taliban elements.
