Thom Hartmann's Independent Thinker "Book [DVD] of the Month," Exclusively on BuzzFlash.com : "The 11th Hour" DVD just being released. Executive Producer and Narrator, Leonardo DiCaprio. Read Thom's Review (he's in it too), watch the trailer, buy it from BuzzFlash and help save planet earth:
How bad are things? Worse than you ever could have imagined. How good can they become? Better than you ever could have imagined. Al Gore's film is about global warming and the life of Al Gore. Leonardo DiCaprio's new movie, The 11th Hour, is about Everything.

This movie moves seamlessly from the global environmental crisis, to species loss, to crises in energy, trash, and toxins. The breadth is breathtaking.

The Beginning of the End for Coal:
With concerns about climate change mounting, the era of coal-fired electricity generation in the United States may be coming to a close. In early 2007, a U.S. Department of Energy report listed 151 coal-fired power plants in the planning stages in the United States.

But during 2007, 59 proposed plants were either refused licenses by state governments or quietly abandoned. In addition, close to 50 coal plants are being contested in the courts, and the remaining plants will likely be challenged when they reach the permitting stage.

Stopping the Press: Note to Newsweek: McCain is closer to Bush than to the Democrats on the environment - Link
McCain has failed to release any clear global warming policy (repeatedly), and his economic and health care plans are designed for the benefit of millionaires and giant corporations at the expense of everyone else."

Green Parenting: Quote of the Day: Jason Alexander on Overpopulation:
This planet was never intended to support the number of human beings we currently have residing on it. As a result, natural lands and animal populations are disappearing—and rapidly. If we do not start to really understand this harsh reality and reverse it, our planet will not survive. At least not with a quality of life that anyone would wish for.

Obama Widens Lead Over Clinton Nationally -
Obama now has a 52 percent to 43 percent lead over Clinton. In national general election polling, Obama is tied with Republican nominee John McCain. McCain has a slim two percentage point lead (47 percent to 45 percent) over Clinton in a hypothetical general election match-up.

John McCain: The Man Who Would Be Nixon -
Fast forward 40 years later: Another Republican from the west, another ex-naval officer, is running for President during an ill-advised war from which Middle America would love to wash its hands.

As a matter of fact, the only major difference between Nixon's and McCain's campaigns is that at least Tricky Dick respected Middle America's opinion well enough to give it lip service to ending the war. McCain, on the other hand, seems horrifyingly comfortable with the very idea of a century-long troop presence in Iraq...

Petraeus Testimony to Defend False “Proxy War” Line - Link
Petraeus will testify that it was caused by Iran through a group of rogue militiamen who had split off from Moqtada al-Sadr’s Mahdi Army and came under Iranian control.

The idea of Iranian-backed “rogue” Shiite militia groups undermining Sadr’s efforts to pursue a more moderate course was introduced by the U.S. military command in early 2007. These alleged Iranian proxies were called “Special Groups” — a term that came not from Iran or the Shiites themselves but from the Bush administration.

Just read your link about Obama leading in NC. Its funny, yesterday I picked up my local paper here in WNC and saw the headline read:

"NC may decide Democratic nominee"

Then, they posted the 3 candidates contacts for volunteers. McCains contact: Raliegh. Clinton.......... all the way in Charlotte according to the area code. Obama: right down the road!! Local call.

:)

In fact, Obama supporters have ben all over the place round here. Haven't seen one sign of a Clinton supporter. We might be small, but still.................
