Until I post something real, you should read this.

Blessings to those children, and the person who made this possible.

Today would have been my parents' 60th anniversary.

Here is the second biggest a-hole in American law enforcement after Joe Arpio

The best part, the MCSD doesn't even respond to 911 calls.

Open carry is great - except where open carry is legal!

This story is beyond priceless. Idaho gun-nut lawmakers are very disturbed about an armed man who walked around the state Capitol building, alongside a tour of Cub and Boy Scouts, in part because he was armed.

And so what? I thought guns made us safer. Why should it matter if the man was armed? He was simply exercising his Second Amendment rights, right? Sure, he might have had plans to murder all the kids, or take out a few state legislators, but that’s the price you pay for our precious constitutional freedoms.

My sympathies, Trojanrabbit. It is going to be a rough day but remember the love that your parents shared.

The story about the donor helping the Sandy Hook Elementary School choir attend the Superbowl is quite touching. I just hope that no one boos them. I fear that some people are that vindictive and so afraid that there might be some weapon that they cannot own. I am sick and tired of the violence.

On a personal note, no word on the job front. If I do not get the job that I interviewed for last week, I have a few districts to check on for substitute teaching.

Mornin' all..

As I was on the way to the bus stop today, someone up there decided it would be HILARIOUS to dump a tanker truck of water on me.

And of course, I thought it was hilarious too, and couldn't stop laughing as I walked back home to change out of soaked clothes.

Say, it's still in the news....

Boy Scout Troop 250 (Waltham, MA) fully endorses the change in national policy.

We were talking amongst the senior leadership last night, and our Activities Chair (who just happens to be a sitting member of City Council) made the following observation.

All the old-timers are freaking out about this. All the kids are looking at it and saying "This is an issue because?"

It's our generation (myself included) that is looking at this and thinking that this isn't such a big deal. We're capable of evolving on this.

Like everything else, a generational shift, I guess. Maybe in 25 years when Javi is his youngling's Cubmaster, they'll look back on the changes with awe and wonder and ponder that "The Boy Scouts used to discriminate??"

In some good news, a friend told me that her employee found a home for the four month old husky that she found last week. The dog went to a home with another husky.

This man shows why we need to reform our gun laws. I am stunned that no legal action was taken against this man based on his past actions.

Good day, everyone. Cablevision trying to kill a union. That's been their MO for years since the Dolans have been notoriously hostile to unions for years and have broken the law to do it. Back in 1991, they fired a batch of their people and moved their master control into our old facility in Floral Park when their was a union organizing attempt at News 12 Long Island to nip it before their could even be a vote. It dragged in the courts and through the NLRB for years but Cablevision eventually lost when it was ruled that they acted illegally.

I think she's gonna feel her way around, but she has hinted at social work or veterinarian science ...

I'm just so proud. She has a great guidance counselor who helped her navigate things to find a school that fit her needs and yet gave her options to branch out. I've looked over the schools website, and I think this is a good fit for her. She new she had a place here with us in Virginia but I think she really wanted to go to school in the mountains (Adirondack's) --

You've met her Mala, She is a country girl. She's going to be able to get away, still be close enough to Mom and dad (and step dad) to visit her little brother.

I can see her doing either of those - she's got a great big heart

That's perfect for her, and she can always transfer later if she feels comfortable.

I realize the profit-motivated media is only focusing on these more because it helps the bottom line, but seriously if the increased awareness helps the push to tighten gun laws then I consider it a plus.

And honestly, her being in the SUNY system makes it even better -- she can transfer easily if she wants. NYS has a really wonderful university system.
