I was reminded of this story last night, perusing the internets.
This is a story about trust and judgement. Last week, Senator Hillary Clinton said the following and laughed at a reporter for questions regarding Richard Mellon Scaife:
I wonder, is it her nature? We know all the things that this man has done, so is he the frog or is she?
From the Pittsburg Tribune, March 25:
I post this, becuase also in March, Slate Magazine reminded us of something Scaife once said: Will Hillary 'Renounce and Denounce' a man who uses hate speech?... or is she a scorpion whose nature it is to do what she does?
Time will tell, but I can assure you, the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy™ will have no problem using this against her in the general election. And - if both the Scorpion and the Frog die in the river, I can assure you, the Fox will be sitting at the bank (literally and figuratively) watching and laughing at his friends. THAT would be the real tragedy of this tale.

The Scorpion and the Frog
A scorpion and a frog meet on the bank of a stream and the
scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back. The
frog asks, "How do I know you won't sting me?" The scorpion
says, "Because if I do, I will die too."
The frog is satisfied, and they set out, but in midstream,
the scorpion stings the frog. The frog feels the onset of
paralysis and starts to sink, knowing they both will drown,
but has just enough time to gasp "Why?"

The Clinton campaign had refrained from getting involved in the Wright controversy, but Clinton herself, responding to a question this morning, denounced what she said was "hate speech."
I post this, becuase also in March, Slate Magazine reminded us of something Scaife once said:
We turn now to this excerpt from a 1981 Columbia Journalism Review profile of Scaife by Karen Rothmyer, in which the reporter describes a conversation with the distinguished publisher and philanthropist:
"Mr. Scaife, could you explain why you give so much money to the New Right?"
"You fucking Communist c*nt, get out of here."

Good thing it's an indoor pool. If it was an outdoor pool like the other hotel I wouldn't have bothered. Although I might have still gone up to see if the bunnies were still there.

I think they are just moving on with the times.

In front of the auditorium where Hills will be speaking is one of our town loonies. A black man named Edgar that always carries around a large Rebel Battle flag. Coming into town, she had to drive past the Obama HQ where there is a large banner.:lol: Welcome Hillary

Good evening, bloggers!! I have had a long, busy day and turned Mike Malloy on.
Rush Limbaugh is evil! Encouraging harm to others and taking pleasure in it is truly evil.
Rush may proclaim traditional values, but no one I know of who truly follows the tenets of any of the three Abrahamic faiths - Judaism, Christianity, or Islam - would advocate harm to innocent people. My hope is that one day, Rush truly gets to understand two words and one simple phrase: eternal damnation.
So, if someone is injured by individuals following Rush's call for violence, will he comfort that person or the person's family. Of course not. If compassion was food, an amoeba could starve to death on the compassion in Rush Limbaugh's gangrenous excuse for a soul.

I would like to comment on the remarks that Raine, TriSec and BobR made on the last Dail Blog at AAP. I think that the call for understanding and reconciliation was a wise call. What unites us is more important than what divides us. (See Rush Limbaugh's remarks for the gap between progressives and the most virulent forms of the right wing.) My hope is that there can be reconciliation.
I am glad to hear about the new members here and I will try to check things out here as often as I can. (I have been busy, but I am glad to be part of this community and other good online communities.)

With the numbers not good for the Republicans, I do wonder if the GOP is looking for the only thing that might keep them in power and that's a little disorder or "terrorism" which the rethuglicans will use as an excuse to impose martial law. :foil:
