I missed Raine's blog yesterday, but I plan to go over it. (I was babysitting for a friend.)
Maybe I am cynical, but I find it difficult to have faith in any side in this whole affair. Snowden comes across as a libertarian, Paulite who believes he means well. Assange comes across as a guy who is convinced that what he is doing is absolutely right but seems to have no clue about the core of the Paulite libertarian agenda -- dismantling government. The administration has said we need more oversight as has several members of Congress, but I find myself not feeling comfortable with the raw power of what the NSA can do. We need to work on safeguards. We also need to remember the saying that the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. Also, I am not sure of the intentions of a lot of players in this affair.
As Raine said: Something isn't right here. I have more questions than answers, and I am not sure whom to trust -- if anyone. (A bit down this weekend.)
(Perhaps I am a bit worn out.)
