Sound and Fury, Signifying Nothing
Author: BobR    Date: 2014-07-30 10:22:30

The Republicans are playing their cards close to the chest. Everyone is wondering what it's going to be: lawsuit or impeachment? What's the best way to waste a lot of taxpayer money on a pointless exercise designed to fire up the most right-wing of the base? The bigger question should be - what do they possibly hope to accomplish, other than career suicide?

The impeachment talk originated in the farthest recesses of the Republican intellectual wasteland, with the likes of Sarah Palin trying to prove her Constitutional acumen and establish her writing bona fides. Side-show freaks aside, though - what about legitimate political figures? What about those in office?

Congressman Jack Kingston (R-GA) - prior to losing a runoff for the Republican Senate seat of outgoing Saxby Chambliss - was indicating that he was all in favor of impeachment. It seems to be the talking point of choice for would-be candidates: "Send me to Congress so I can impeach Obama!". It's also the cry of those no longer in power. In fact, there are several high-profile Republicans who are making the case.

The MOST high-profile Republican in Congress - House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) - is not climbing on the impeachment bandwagon. He knows this is bad press for them. After all - the proposed lawsuit is backfiring, helping Democrats with their fund-raising efforts. He does not want that to happen in this case, and is leading with a "weak tea" offensive that this was somehow started by the White House. To the right-wing paranoids, it probably rings true. But the soundbites speak for themselves, and this impeachment talk falls squarely on the extremists in Boehner's party.

Whether it be lawsuit or impeachment hearings, or yet another pointless vote to repeal Obamacare, one has to wonder when they'd find the time to do nothing positive for the American people, considering they are only working 13 - count 'em - 13 days before election day in November:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/t1.0-9/p480x480/10517536_762855700404065_3208351682451928663_n.jpg

And then after that is Thanksgiving and Christmas, and *whew* - the whole year is shot.

So I am imagining that President Obama is not really concerned. If history is any indication, this Republican-led Congress will continue to be the most ineffectual in our country's history, even when it comes to playing partisan politics.

Mornin' all..

Pissed? Yes. Shocked? Yes. Surprised? Not at all. Corporate greed has NO BOUNDS, and now they're funneling billions in collected sales tax into their own pockets instead of the state treasuries.

Hello. Before we get all in an uproar about the August recess, that is by law. There a a governmental reorganization law past in the early 70s that mandates the recess.

All that other stuff, not so much though.

I wouldn't mind the August recess so much if they actually did some work during the rest of the year.

Well, this is getting more and more curious.

Fox news conveniently failed to mention that it is a Motorcylcle AND gun shop.
A DeLand police officer on patrol spotted Zimmerman’s pickup parked on the property of Pompano Pat’s, a motorcycle dealership and gun shop owned by candidate Pat Johnson, on Monday about 12:30 a.m., Sgt. Chris Estes said.

“He said he had permission from Pat Johnson to do night security but our officers could not make contact with Pat Johnson to verify that so we did an information report,” Estes said.

Pat Johnson was not at the store Tuesday morning. His gun sales manager said Zimmerman is not affiliated with the shop, adding that the sighting is a publicity stunt to smear Johnson’s campaign for mayor.

“George Zimmerman is not an employee of the business and he is not getting paid in any way, shape or form by Pompano Pat’s,” Sam Porter said.

Am I the only that made the observation is that he was once again impersonating a security guard?

Why a foul mood my friend?

Combination of factors.. this broken tooth and the money i'll be spending to yank it, low caffeine to blood plasma ratio, eyes have been bugging out all day from allergies even with the pill, a bit overworked and underrested.. had a somewhat major disagreement with a few gaming friends (trying not to let that get to me tho)

That article I posted earlier about the sales tax receipts really did NOT help either.

Yes, I am amazed. The only two where I think the color is off are the Civil War ones. The Union blue doesn't look right.

He is not the Shat's biggest fan. There was discussion of that when he was on Real Time 2 weeks ago. Shatner was clueless about Uncle George being gay. Even though he brought a "buddy" to the weekly wrap parties. All the other members of the cast knew Takai was gay, but didn't care.

Shatners really only interested in stuff that involves himself and he's okay with that XD

I follow him on Twitter - he's hilarious. And a big supporter of a lot of shows on the CW and Sy Fy Channel - he loves to live tweet to support the shows if he can.

He's also one of the celeb teams for GISHWHES this year. Its the first time they've had celebs and even created the Shatner Rule because of that.

Oh Mr. Colbert, you are indeed a scamp!
Palin got SarahPalinChannel.com, but she failed to get "TheSarahPalinChannel.com." That address is now in the hands of Colbert and his staff, as he announced on his show on Tuesday night. The site currently boasts a photo of Palin with the line "The only Sarah Palin Channel on the internet with a definite article in the address!"

I imagine it's only a matter of hours before the precipitation changes from paper to live munitions. Atfer all, they were warned.
