They are terrorists. That's it.

{…}I address myself now to all the racists, Islamophobes, and anti-Semites:

One must not confuse extremists with Muslims. Madness has neither color nor religion. I want to make another point: stop painting everybody with the same brush, stop burning mosques or synagogues. You are attacking people. It won't bring back our dead, and it won't appease our families.

Thank you.

I agree with the sentiment that this is probably the most poignant thing to be said about the events last week in Paris.

While I truly appreciate the massive march in Paris yesterday I believe it is entirely appropriate to point this out:
"We must demonstrate our solidarity with Charlie Hebdo without forgetting all the world’s other Charlies," Reporters Without Borders Secretary-General Christophe Deloire said in a statement. "It would be unacceptable if representatives of countries that silence journalists were to take advantage of the current outpouring of emotion to try to improve their international image and then continue their repressive policies when they return home. We must not let predators of press freedom spit on the graves of Charlie Hebdo."

They're right. In what can only be described as an epic series of 21 pointed tweets, London School for Economics Middle East Society co-president Daniel Wickham points out that many of the world leaders who marched Sunday through the streets of Paris are not the world's biggest advocates for press freedom.
Read those tweets.

Personally I am fine that our government did not march alongside the other government representatives. I am of the belief that it was a bit of a distraction to the actual people of France who are suffering and in mourning on the attacks on Freedom of expression and speech.

Peace,
Freedom,
Expression,
Love,
hope,

Raine

Morning. I must say that Sir Duke is a handsome fella. Bob, the Crystal Metheny story was a hoot.

I once had a cat named Count Basie...
An odd beast. Often times a sweetly purring ball of fang and claw.

My only dog was named Pocahontas - she was a sweetie collie/sheppard mix and loved herding me around.

Friends had a cat named Chainsaw. So named for two reasons. I will let you figure them out.

Mala Once the weather gets nicer we'll have to come down for a luncheon with the Duke!

Also, I think That the place where you office used to be was torn down — It looks like a new Apartment complex is going up there!

I would love that - we're over here by Accotink Park too.

Really?! I thought that was going to be a Habitat Re-Store now. Knew the place at Pickett and Van Dorn got torn down and they bult a huge building.

I thought your old place was on Pickett and Van dorn.

I will have to take a look again and see if there is a Habitat store.

Well, I suspect Kamala Harris may very well seek this seat. I honestly would really like to see a woman maintain that seat.

I am going to start a campaign where this is use as part of the character generation process!

Because, "ENTERPRISING HALFLING BARBARIAN FROM AN EXTREMIST TEMPLE WHO DOESN'T BELIEVE IN HYGIENE"

Wait the last campaign I was in had a guy who didn't believe in hygiene. Seriously his BO was just awful.

Didn't watch the show but he might have changed, he's kind of notorious for photo bombing by jumping in the background

Raine, thanks for a great blog. I think that we will get past this era of fanaticism.
