“Susan Rice has a blind spot: Genocide,” said the ad appearing in Saturday’s New York Times, touting a talk on Iran this week in Washington hosted by Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, the New Jersey-based author and pro-Israel advocate.
As soon as the Sabbath ended, Jewish groups rushed to condemn the ad. The American Jewish Committee called it “revolting,” the Anti-Defamation League called it “spurious and perverse”, the Jewish Federations of North America called it “outrageous” and Josh Block, the president of The Israel Project, said it was “entirely inappropriate.”
Marshall Wittmann, the spokesman for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, which will host Rice on Monday at its annual conference, said, “Ad hominem attacks should have no place in our discourse.”
And now he’s a Republican congressional candidate who will soon reap the gains from a $500,000 Super PAC donation from Sheldon and Miriam Adelson. He tells me that lessons learned in a country that survived genocide work both “microcosmically” and “macrocosmically.”
“When you live for yourself,” he says, “I think your economy corrodes. When you live with a greater sense of purpose, I think you do really well. The United States when it had far higher defense expenditures, during the Cold War, had a far more robust economy for the most part. It stood for something. I think we need to regain that. That’s why I went to Rwanda.”
Adelson is also the publisher of Israel’s widest-read newspaper, the free Israel Hayom daily, which critics say takes a blatantly pro-Netanyahu line.
When it came to Israel, Adelson, a personal friend of the prime minister, and Stephens deviated slightly. While Adelson said Netanyahu “would not live without taking some kind of action under the threat of harm to the Jewish people or the State of Israel,” Stephens claimed he is “all hat and no cattle.”
Negotiators from Iran and six world powers, known as the P5+1, are due to meet in Geneva for a round of talks on November 7-8, the second round of talks in as many months.
A senior administration official at the White House cited criticism from a number of Jewish advocacy groups in reaction to the ad, saying it has been met with "revulsion."
"This ad is being widely met with the revulsion that it deserves. Frankly, the ad says more about those who supported it than it says about Susan Rice," the official told CNN.
The administration official declined to elaborate on those comments or to provide an on-the-record defense of Rice.
The Anti-Defamation League called the ad "perverse and incendiary."
"Has Boteach helped the pro-Israel community, which, presumably, was the object of the exercise? Absolutely not. To the contrary, he has made our collective task more difficult," the American Jewish Committee said.

She maintaining. I have been given the ok to not be ready to jump in the truck at a moments notice.
She's still very sick, but her blood pressure has risen slightly (it was REALLY REALLY low) and she has started speaking in German here and there.

I'm really hoping for a massive walkout during Bibi's war chant.
Though I fear too many Democrats don't have the spine for it.

I heard rumors that if seats were not filled that "friendlies" would be brought in by GOP/AIPAC to occupy the seats. Any truth to that?

This entire thing is just disgusting.. Did anyone bother to see the actual add that was placed in the NYT?

I can only watch so much of that in one sitting - it is a very dark show with no sympathetic characters - other than the bit players that get trampled underfoot

Why am I not surprised.
Lumber Liquidators sourcing flooring from China with formaldehyde levels above limits.
The flooring of the Board of Directors homes should be ripped out and replaced with this crap. Maybe a couple of huge piles of ground up flooring in the corners of each room for good measure.

I dunno, I have to say this season was quite different. I felt like all of the darker characters (yes, even Frank) deserved some sympathy in these new eps. That's all I'm gonna say, cuz if I say more it'll spoil stuff.

I decided to take a walk around the Capitol building at lunch. There was a woman there struggling with some sort of protest display - she had an Israeli flag, a Gadsden flag, and an upside-down American flag. The wind was creating havoc with them.
Oh yeah - she was also wearing an Uncle Sam hat.

Joining the ranks of Bill Pullman, Jeff Bridges, Michael Douglas, Kevin Kline, Harrison Ford, and more as great movie Presidents is a dude from that show Shark Tank, who happens to own the Dallas Mavericks. His Veep will be that conservative commentator who really hates soccer.
Other recently announced casting, first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, includes: Bo Derek as star Tara Reid's mother; Jerry Springer as a "manic tourist;" 'N SYNC's Chris Kirkpatrick as a lifeguard; and finally, wrestler Chris Jericho as a roller coaster ride operator. OK, then.

She has opened her eyes and was brought to the dining room to eat today! Her blood sugar is a little Low ( which is fine as it is easier to raise it than lower it.) Her BP is a little bit higher (not continuously dropping and not back to normal, it may never be)
She is taking her meds easily and is breathing more and more on her own. They are using the Oxygen less and less. She's even back to speaking a little english here and there.
My mom (remember we all have dark humor running thru our veins) asked her: Mom, Are you you dead? and
Oma replied:
Yes, liebchen. and a smal smile from Oma. That's a good sign that her humor is coming back.
One day at a time, but it appears Oma isn't leaving us just quite yet.
Thank you all so much for you prayers and good thoughts.
