HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Don't know how many of you are familiar with the Mummer's Parade in Philadelphia on New Year's Day, but as a kid I would watch it as religiously as I would watch the Macy's Parade to know that Christmas had started when Santa arrived.

Don't know too much of the history, and honestly right now don't want too, mostly its something that started in the 1800's in Philly and there are lots of bands and ......... THIS!

How can you not love men and women dressed in colors that would make an Easter egg look tame and enough feathers and rhinestones to leave Vegas naked, all the while dancing and playing music sometimes with skits!

As I've gotten older and long moved from the Philadelphia area its become hard to locate it on the tv New Year's Day. Thankfully they now stream it!

Philly Mummers

I'm hoping to get the chance to watch a little this year, if you haven't seen it before take a look. Starting out the year with a little joy and fun.

Okay 2016 lets be positive and bring joy.

The town I grew up in had the Mummers in the parade for the Canaltown Days festival.

I used to remember when the Tournament of Roses Parade aired on multiple networks (including the Spanish ones).
