Just a few snippets of news to give one HOPE!

From MSNBC

DEFIANCE, Ohio -- "Where is Joe? Is Joe here with us today?"

That's the question John McCain asked roughly 6,000 people at Defiance Junior High School on [Oct. 30 morning], But the correct answer was no -- Joe the Plumber was nowhere to be found.

There are conflicting reports about where or when or if Joe will appear with McCain at some point during his two-day bus tour of Ohio, but the candidate clearly thought that he was meeting him here in Defiance, the first stop on the tour.

A local school district official confirmed after the event that of the 6,000 people estimated by the fire marshal to be in attendance this morning, more than 4,000 were bused in from schools in the area. The entire 2,500-student Defiance School District was in attendance, the official said, in addition to at least three other schools from neighboring districts, one of which sent 14 buses.

Seems like hardly anyone wants to attend his rallies, even Joe! Well, as they say, "suffer the poor children", sorry kids for putting you through this. I'm sure you were excited getting out of classes until you found out what it was.

Most people want to go to the rallies that have celebrities - you know, like Sarah Palin! Sarah, who was punk'd yesterday by a genius Canadian Comedy Duo later put out a statement that said:

"Governor Palin was mildly amused to learn that she had joined the ranks of heads of state, including President Sarkozy and other celebrities, in being targeted by these pranksters. C'est la vie," she said.

"Other celebrities"? Oh dear. These people need something to keep track of their talking points! Did she, and her "people" forget that Obama is the celebrity? Remember the ad with him and Paris Hilton? Now its Sarah and Paris. Actually, now that I picture that, a pretty good pairing. Lets just hope Sarah keeps her underpants on.

Frankly, I think Paris may be smarter than this pile of dog-poo. I've tried to compare her intelligence to that of a pancake, but my pal Mondo told me I was insulting pancakes. He's probably correct.

Not only did she fall for this lame prank by two comedians, she never once questions the comments that the (supposed) President says! I can only imagine a White House that makes the movie "Idiocracy" look like a documentary!

She's so dumb......... (how dumb is she)......... She's so dumb she thinks the press are infringing upon her First Amendment Rights! (drumroll, laughter, applause).

I'm sorry, but the only, the ONLY way Obama can lose at this point is through outright cheating or an army to stop us. And they may well need an army if they try to cheat.

In fact, while the early voting crowds which lean heavily toward an Obama win, have left long lines throughout many states that were once solidly "red" the GOP suffers what could be the final nail in its coffin. An endorsement from one man: Dick Cheney.

Oh dear.

Watch Cheney in this inspiring and uplifting endorsement. zzzzzzzzzzz. Oh, what?

Note also how Palin gets more applause than McCain. Hmmmm. Curious.

So, Velveeta's message today is: Don't give up. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel but we still cannot slow down. Not even for a moment. Get out on election day, help those people in those long lines not to lose hope.

For the McCain/Palin team, they have to get out and push their wrecked train towards the ever fading light. They won't make it.

If I can't inspire you. Let this woman do it:

Amanda Jones, 109, the daughter of a man born into slavery, has lived a life long enough to touch three centuries. And after voting consistently as a Democrat for 70 years, she has voted early for the country's first black presidential nominee.

Good morning everyone.

Another day at work, only problem with Sundays is that it's sleep-inducingly warm and stuffy in here. Good thing they provide many, many watts of subwoofer for me to plug my music into.

You know what I've been thinking for a while? And, it's kind of what John Kerry just said. I have the feeling that some of the Republican Senators will breathe a sigh of relief when GWB is gone. I don't think they have wanted to be as utterly divided as they have been. They have become Good Germans in a way, and something in me feels that will change when Obama is in office. I feel like the Senate will become a place where work gets done, rather than a Boxing ring.

Maybe I am going back to being too "Happy Shiny" but, I've been thinking this for a while.

I don't know. I just think the Congress will start to feel safe about speaking up against their party from now on.

It reminds of the feeling when a member of your family dies, and everyone is sad, etc. But, at the same time, you feel that there is a window of opportunity to say things you may not otherwise; make little confessions, say things that should have been said before.

The Congress will have that window with Obama.

Just my opinion.

No, but if it's anything like other phone banking, there will be lots of voice mail. A few jerks and few enthusiastic folks. It won't hurt a bit :star:!

Good morning everyone.

Jacksonville Local TV must really suck.

It was a long day at the salt mine. And Raine, you might be glad you didn't see the Ranger game. They blew a 2-0 lead in the third period to lose 5-2 to the Maple Laffs.

And since I am at work at 4 PM. I will miss the Giants crush the Cowboys.

Comment by Raine on 11/02/2008 16:16:27
Barack Obama has a new ad on the Dick Cheney Endorsement...

Listen carefully to the music when "Darth Cheney" comes into the video (about 8 seconds in)... IS that from Star Wars?

Right now I am listening to Lizz Winstedad on Alex Bennett's show from Friday. She was a guest in the third hour, talking about her show and the election.

The panel tomorrow looks to be a hoot and I believe HBK is going. I just have to buy my ticket.

Yay Velveeta, :D

Thank you, thank you, thank you for penning a much needed post that serves as an antidote to my "cockeyed pessimist" post that I wrote this morning. I love the Cheney endorsement (and we all thought he didn't have a sense of humor :P)

Cheers,

Number 3,209 in a series of lame McCain ads. This one featuring Jeb Bush. Um John, his last name is Bush, he is related to the massively unpopular president. This is why he isn't running for president.

Comment by TriSec on 11/03/2008 02:06:34
Evening, folks!

I noted the Giants score earlier...."My two favorite teams are the Patriots and whoever is playing the Cowboys." As you well know, I have hated the Dallas entry to the NFL since I was a wee lad.

Javi is grudgingly attending CCD for First Communion next year (against my better judgement, I assure you.) So we're trying to institute a computer-free Sunday for the duration.

We made pie today, and watched the original "Charlotte's Web" (circa 1973). Which I don't think I've seen since 1973 myself...

Not looking forward to the inevitable confrontation in the spring from my dear mother over why I didn't take communion on the day my son got his, but that's a story for another day.

Comment by Mondobubba on 11/03/2008 02:13:15
What does CCD stand for any way, Tri?

Actually, Mrs. TriSec reminded me that this is our last obligation to the nuns.

Javi was adopted from the Heart of Mary Villa in Quezon City; one of the conditions for being approved was to promise to raise him as a Catholic.

So....this is it. Confirmation will be his choice, but I guess we have to do this.

(Realistically though, everything is finalized, so how are they gonna know?)
