Oh and was it me or did Kamala Harris wear her ass kicking shoes last night?

Good Morning!

squee!

I was really impressed with Kamala and believe it or not -- Gillibrand. I did not expect that.

ERic Swalwell really was kinda douchey last night.

Morning. Yeah, Harris definitely kicked ass. Gillibrand and Buttigieg also came off well. Biden seemed a little lost. Sanders spoke in sweeping generalities without specifics, and too often pivoted the question to "Wall St. and the 1%".

The rest were non-factors.

In watching the after shows a bit kind of found myself feeling sorry for Biden a bit. Really do think he thought was doing the best at the time those votes came up.

Also tried to remember if bussing effecting my schools back then (this was when we lived outside of Philly) and for the life of me I cannot remember. I remember it being prominently white but also being what was thought as diverse for the 1970's.

I felt sorry for Biden as well,

I guess I feel sort of protective of him.

Same.

Good morning, bloggers!!!

I thought that Kamala Harris was the big winner of the debate and Joe Biden really did not fully address her concerns. I think that many of the candidates were what we expected - Sanders focusing on the economy, Buttigieg showing why he should debate Mike Pence or someone else on the religious right -- and some really did not register. (Swalwell seemed very angry and Williamson seemed to be the counselor -in-chief.)

I do think that some of these candidates have a future. (Buttigieg may find it hard to advance in very conservative Indiana, so maybe he has a role in an upcoming administration.)

This is a really good assessment of the Harris Biden exchange last night.
What Harris really did is to pin down this ambiguity and not allow it to remain hidden any longer. What she demonstrated is that, whatever Biden’s actual intentions, any whiff of such racial and cultural signaling no longer has any place in today’s Democratic Party.

Tellingly, this was precisely the point at which Biden was left befuddled. He simply didn’t know how to respond. He did forcefully denounce his old Senate colleagues. But he also defended his busing stance -- which carried the aroma of that very same signaling. At the least, he just didn’t know how to clearly telegraph that he understands that this no longer can be left ambiguous.

It’s not yet clear how much this will damage Biden, and he still has time to find some way to convey clarity on this point.

But Harris’s precision in exposing this ambiguity was almost eerie. Biden may possess a well of knowledge and experience from having lived through Civil Rights tumult, but it didn’t serve him well at a crucial moment.

By contrast, Harris made a strong down payment on the idea that she’s the one to prosecute the case against Trump’s racism -- a case that must be prosecuted with no such ambiguity or grey areas.

that's the second caller that took issue with Kamala going after Biden, interesting.

There's been a LOT of that going around in social media circles. People saying she was "too aggressive".

Uhh, this is a nomination for President of the United States. If you can't be someone who can take charge of a given situation during a debate, then how do you expect to handle the actual pressure of the job?!

This is really peculiar.

Fuck you, Panera Bread! One of the last great local bagel bakeries has closed after 21 years. RIP Healthy Bagels

I don't know if it is Panera's fault, but they are everywhere with the substandard, non-chewy bagels.

Yeah - Biden had an opportunity to clarify his past actions, and he fumbled and essentially claimed "states rights"?

The joke that he's a "gaffe machine" shows that sometimes it's not a very funny joke.

I think it varies from one Panera to another. I've had some that were actually very good. It does suck that a Mom & Pop shop closed down, but I doubt it was because of competition from Panera.

I don't think it all on Panera. I think at some point the ownership changed somewhere along the line and the new owners didn't have the same passion. The place was open for twenty-one years which is a pretty good run.

So I just stumbled onto this article: FDA is warning about several dog food brands having increased risk of canine heart diseases

The thing that makes me suspicious is that there's specific brands mentioned, and not a single one is a major corporate brand name (aka Purina, Alpo, Pedigree etc).

I'm kinda bothered that Taste of the Wild is mentioned. We fed that to Duke for a while before we became parents of three English setters, we now feed them Costco brand (grain free.)

Not gonna lie, I don't see why this FDA would do this sorta fear mongering.

Scoo[p, I would wager that almost all the brands are owned by a bigger company. Nutrish is owned by Smuckers. Nutro is owned by Mars. General Mills owns Blue Buffalo.
