Am I the only one trying to decompress from 2015 and on? The hell of it all is that I don't feel like I can decompress. The GOP has become the QOP and the levels of insanity seem to escalate day by day.

This is the party that censured Cindy McCain for -- wait for it -- defending her deceased husband. This is the party that is primarying its own leadership, Liz Cheney, for following election protocol. They are attacking Mitt Romney for actually saying he would like to have a Senate trial so he can assess the evidence of inciting and insurrection (with ol' Mittens, the bar is the floor, but I digress).

This is the party which - in 2020 - said a sitting present shouldn't be charged with crimes because he was in the office, that is now saying he can't be held accountable for the actions on January 6 (while he was still occupying the office) because he is a private citizen.

It appears this is a party that wants to literally neuter useless a coequal branch of government when they are not in control.

This is a party that supports the likes of Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene. They're afraid of electoral backlash if they speak out against trumplicanism, so they fully embrace it. All they have to do is say the words 'troubling', 'disappointing ' or some variant of concern, and do nothing about it because the next firehose of news cycles will make people forget. That's not an accident - it's increasingly looking like it's by design.

I'm haunted by these words from the Auschwitz Memorial tweet yesterday, Holocaust Remembrance Day. The Republican Party has become radicalized and dangerous.

At Auschwitz we see the end of the long process. It's important to remember that the Holocaust did not start from gas chambers & murder.

The hatred slowly developed from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice, through legal exclusion, escalating violence & dehumanization.

There is no rest for the weary I suppose. It may be their party but it will take every patriotic citizen to realize it our Nation's problem.
