The Return
Author: Raine    Date: 06/07/2021 13:06:24

Good morning. We returned from NY basically unscathed. We went out to est with my Sister's family Friday night.

Indoors.

Earlier that day, we took my Mom to lunch at a diner. This was probably the first time she went out to eat in a few years. Even before this pandemic hit she was reluctant to go out. The Diner had a handwritten sign that all of its employees were vaccinated which I thought was kind. I felt strangely normal even with the protocols in place. We wore masks when told and I wore mine when it fit my level of discomfort. That level is slowly going away.

Later in the evening, with every tired Mom left at home, We went to dinner across the river. There's a place in Kingston called the Rondout. It a lively area that sits upon the Rondout creek. After a delightful hibachi dinner and a few cocktails, we strolled along the waterfront. A band was playing at an outdoor venue. Children were walking with parents and grandparents. The air was bright and refreshing. The next day, a few old friends came over and we had a bit of an impromptu gathering. The things I missed more than anything are finally returning.

It felt good to feel that kind of freedom. It felt good to be vaccinated. It felt good to enjoy the company of loved ones after a year and a half.

&
Raine

Mornin!

I get to see my momma this weekend! It's a little bittersweet tho cuz Jess probably can't come with me. She's extremely overprotective of the doggies, especially the little one that's very old and not doing too good, and doesn't want to leave them with people she doesn't know (she's still very new to RI).

That's understandable.

We left Katie behind with neighbors because of a few reasons. First, 4 dogs are way more cray than three (already cray). Second, we don't know how well she does long-distance travel, and lastly -- Duke would have stepped on her. He really is VERY overstimulated on car rides.

So hot outside all I did this weekend was make 2 loves of banana bread, a dozen banana muffins, and a derby pie. And finally made the jump from my compression velcro wraps to compression socks - 7 month journey to get to that point We'll see where we go from there.

Good morning, bloggers!!!

I spent the weekend helping my Mom and sister clean and get rid of stuff as they are looking at a likely move as their building is on the market. I am done with the epic level cleaning of last week.

Wow - can you send me your cleaning energy? I need to do a massive cleaning reset and have no motivation.

My ears are still recovering from the high-pitched whines 6 inches from my ears every few minutes for 6 hours each way.

Benadryl doesn't do it for Duke, he's gonna need Doggie Xanax for the next trip.

TFG calls on US to stop using computers: The solution to cyberattacks is to 'go back' to 'paper' here is the text so you don't have to click the Raw Story Link:
During an interview on Fox Business, host Stuart Varney asked Trump about how the United States should respond to cyberattacks like the one that recently shut down the Colonial Pipeline.

"The way you stop it is you go back to a much more old-fashioned form of accounting and things," Trump said. "You know, I have a son who is so good with computers. He's a young person and he can make these things sing and when you put everything on internet and on all of these machines -- you never see a piece of paper -- I really think that you have to go back to a different form of accounting, a different form of compiling information."

According to the former president, "young people... can't walk without computers."

"As a young person, my 15-year-old son is, you know, he's just a genius with this stuff," he added. "And you have people that are going to break into systems. I think you have to go back and you have to be much more reliant, there has to be much better security."

Trump also admitted that he doesn't understand how hackers get paid for ransomware cyberattacks.

"I don't know how the hell they get paid, by the way, Stuart," he commented. "You're going to have to explain that to me."
Regarding that last sentence, he may have understood had he done his job.

Good morning. Heading out to the social security office to get examined to prove that I am disabled. Although the amputated foot and the wheelchair should be a dead giveaway.

Read the Raw Story article, and the "you are an idiot" drop played in my head.

The doctor saw the amputation and the fact that I can't walk. That should prove to social security that I am disabled.
