Good Monday Morning.

We've had family in town this weekend, so not many current events were paid attention to.

I only heard of the crazy stuff when I had a chance to be alone and peek at the news. The weather was perfect for fall and spending it with family was just the cherry on top of the cake. The Caps won their final preseason game that we happened to attend!

We watched American football and just did normal family stuff, for a nice change. Anyway, I'll have something more substantive later this week as they are gonna be loading up the Jeep and heading back to the Hudson Valley in a little while.

Oh, one thing, VOTE. Even in deep blue Maryland, there were an awful lot of lunatic fringe candidates being shown support in the more rural area that we traveled to. Those people vote and we have to show them once and for all, there are more of us than them.

Let's get this week started!

&
Raine

Greetings, comrades.

I spent 24 hours this weekend at our old Boy Scout Camp.

It's Dead.

I hope this is not the last time I ever set foot on those grounds, but the feeling I got this weekend is that it very well may have been.

I first saw it in 1980, at the age of 14. Went there for the entire decade of the 80s, and by the magnificence of timing, returned for five more years in the teens with Javi. We now have a mythical bond that only Scout Fathers and their Sons can share....

So I'm having great difficulty in processing what I saw and felt this past day.

That's a real shame. So many places from my past no longer exist... the cabin we used to go to every summer burned down at some point after my parents sold it to my cousin... my old home town county fair is a mere shadow of what it used to be... all the clubs my band played in during the 80s and 90s are gone - some replaced with glass office buildings where little holes-in-the-wall used to be.

So cherish the memories and old photos (if you've got them) - nothing else is guaranteed to survive forever.
