A long night.

Good morning. You will find some stunning news beneath the fold, but I will note that everything is OK on this morning.

Javi was hit by a car yesterday, coming back from a job interview on the campus of Providence College.

It was a hit-and-run. The suspect vehicle is a red Toyota Corolla, but I don't think the police have a plate.

Javi was rushed to Providence Hospital, and by the time we got there, he was upright, alert, conscious, and breathing. No broken bones, no internal injuries, and only minor physical wounds. There's some bruising, and he does have a fair scalp injury that required 11 stitches.

CAT scans did show a small brain bruise, but according to the neurosurgeon, it could just as easily be an imaging anomaly. Javi was disoriented and confused, and is suffering some short-term memory loss. Common symptoms of a concussion.

But over the course of the evening, he was showing slow signs of improvement. A second scan (at 1 am, I might add!) showed no changes or other cause for alarm, so he was discharged.

Instead of back to campus, we took him home. He is under head injury protocol right now (non-NFL fans could look that up), and we're optimistic he can get back to campus by the end of the week.

Yes, an interesting night indeed. Again - JAVI IS OK.

Mornin' all..

Holy shit! Glad he's okay Tri. I've heard about way too many hit & runs in & around Providence. My girlfriend witnessed & helped out someone who was hit while on their bike a few months back.

Hopefully the police can get the car's plates. Lord knows there's enough damn cameras in this city.

Javi was either getting on or off a RIPTA bus at the time. Like any transit agency, the bus should be covered with cameras as well. I will be following up with the Providence Police for an update. I'm not familiar with the part of the city he was in.

But the part I am familiar with - I meant to ask last week. What's up with the stretch of I-95 in front of Providence Place, Scoop? They have been working on that the entire four years we've carted Javi back and forth to campus. Will they ever finish it?

Oh, and I need a breakfast martini.

Yeah there's multiple cameras on the buses. I know of 3-4 routes that it could be.

And yeah, lol... they've literally been working on that section of highway on & off since before I moved to Rhode Island. I think this is the third full replacement that I know about.

Glad that Javi is okay. Hopefully, this doesn't negatively affect his last semester.
