A lot of comedy has been made of House Rep. George Santos (if that's his real name), and all the lies he's told. It's disgusting that Republicans will take anyone in their ranks, so long as it gives them a foothold in the power structure.

Considering that Democrats pushed Al Franken out of the Senate for a goofy photo taken long before he took office (when he was doing the hard work of supporting our troops in the Middle East), it's galling that a man being pursued for check kiting by Brazil is protected by the Republican power structure. They even gave him a seat in two committees, knowing this.

Now the story is that Santos is "stepping down" voluntarily:

The real story is a little different. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), the three-toed-sloth behind the throne, accidentally let slip that Santos was actually forced out of his committee assignments because he'd become a distraction:

McCarthy has already purged Shiff (D-CA) and Swalwell (D-CA) from committees in an act of revenge for Democrats pushing MTG and QAnon Barbie Boebert (R-CO) from their committee assignments after their involvement in the Jan 06 seditious coup became clear. Now he also wants to remove Omar, claiming she's "anti-American".

I don't know what version of America lives inside of McCarthy's head, but it doesn't resemble the one the founding fathers envisioned. Craven political revenge is not governing.
