Fan Boys
Author: Random    Date: 02/19/2009 13:25:32

A new look at whiny bitchy assholes on the television and radio.

It may not surprise some of you that I am a geek. I spend my time playing video games, watching TV and movies, writing random pointless things on blogs like people actually want to read it, and of course, roaming internet sites, and talking with millions of anonymous people about B.S.

And through my travels as an internet watcher, I’ve found something called Fan Boys. Now true girls do fall into this category, but frankly, guys out number them 1 out of 10. And as I watched these Fan Boys, I’ve come to identify two sub groups. The Apologetics, and The Haters.

The Apologetics are Fan Boys so blinded by the Fanaticism of something they can’t see its faults. This usually leads to long reaching convoluted explanations about why someone has done this, or why this had to happen and not that. They’re also very angry, of course, so are The Haters, but I’ll get to that in a moment. They often will attack Apologetics of something they deem inferior(anything that they aren’t Fanatic about). Mean hateful things will be said, and often times Apologetics will apply the same twisted logic to support their product and trying to demean their opponents.

The Haters. A much more complex Fan Boy subgroup. Can easily be confused for Apologetics, for their extreme anger, and just as weird logic. Most of the time though their anger is directed to the thing the often claim to love, and in the past have shown affection for. Often The Haters will have far to high expectations of a product, and whenever it fails to meet these expectations (Always), they crap all over it.

Of Course we know what to do about Fan Boys, right? We ignore them. There is no reasoning with a Fan Boy. They’re like Trolls, except they believe the B.S. they’re saying. And for your enjoyment, a list of known Fan Boys.

Known Fan Boys:

The Apologetics:
Sean Hannity
Rush Limbaugh
Glenn Beck
Joe Scarborough
Pat Buchannan
Bill O’Reilly
Lou Dobbs
Geraldo Rivera
Dennis Miller
Ann Coulter

The Haters:
Joe Lieberman

BTW - Tri sent you a PM

Hold on a minute; I don't think that report is accurate. I'm checking the other website. (which is better with times, the one I usually use has an interface to Google with a moving map, which is much cooler.)

Morning all! :coffee:

So things have been really weird lately for me.. I somehow managed to find my lost ability to get by on just four hours sleep. For the past week or so I've had a couple extra hours each night to have fun & play games, and an extra hour in the morning to get ready and watch the traffic reports.

....until last night that is. I crashed out at about 10:30, and didn't wake up until 6:45! And of course, that made me a half hour late for work.

Interesting opener Random.. the idea of conservative fanboys, or fanboys in politics in general, is a little strange if you know the origins of the term... but I suppose it could definitely work.

Oh and along those lines, if G4TV can be considered the WoW fanboy network then we can use your variation here and apply it to Fux Gnus and batshit crazy neocon political thought. :D

Comment by wickedpam on 02/19/2009 14:38:16
Still here just catching up on somethings

Comment by Random on 02/19/2009 14:40:29
Well, thanks Scoop.

Though I always thought the origin of the term was Fan a shortened way of saying Fanatic Boy? since that is what fan in this instance means, Fanatic.

Which is also why I don't like saying I'm a fan of something, cause I'm not that fanatic about anything.

But what were you refering to?

Comment by Scoopster on 02/19/2009 14:43:18
Heh.. I was looking for some kind of Johnny Mnenomic-themed "Welcome to Newark" image to post, but couldn't find anything. So this will have to do.

http://www.epltalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/welcome-to-newark.gif

Interesting side note.. Ice-T, who played a supporting role as the lo-tech leader J-Bone in Johnny Mnenomic, was born & raised in Newark.

Oh usually when I see fanboy used it's in reference to something involving computers or gamers. Most often I've seen it associated with WoW players who think nothing is better, and nothing better will come along someday.

So yeah, extend that idea to people or pundits who blindly & unequivocally support any kind of these silly regressive political ideas that the Republicans keep clinging to year after year, and what do you get? Rush Limbaugh & Sean Hannity, among many others.

ohhh, right, thought something else entirely, but yeah, I'm taking the idea of what a fanboy is, usually people way to obsessed with a video game, or comic, or Movie, or T.V. Show.

><

Well, Democrats can be FanBoys too, I have Joe Lieberman. He's a Democratic Fan Boy (Under The Haters section) He's shown loyality to the party in the past, but only recently seems to hate it so. Basically any Liberal who's bitching about Obama not doing anything exactly they way they want is a Democrat Fan Boy. And of course anyone who won't recognize Obama's faults and fuck ups is a Democrat Fan Boy too.

It's complex...

You heard it on Rachel's show first - UCLA prof has working hypothesis on Osama's hiding place.

See, no wonder the Bush Administration couldn't figure this out - it involves using the scientific method!

A belated good morning to everyone.

Even though, BobR and Raine are nearby are schedules will not work out for a meet-up. Well since a lot of time is going to be spent with the Raine family, it was not going to work out anyway.

My vacation is going by pretty fast and I haven't seem to have gotten anything accomplished.
