Hypoutrage!
Author: Raine    Date: 05/11/2009 12:35:11

This week, Ladies and Gentlemen, the hypocritical outrage of the week will be whether or not Wanda Sykes went over the line during Friday evening's WHCD. Here is the exchange in context:
"Mr. President . . . you've had your fair share of critics. ... Rush Limbaugh, one of your big critics, boy — Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails. So you’re saying, ‘I hope America fails.’ You’re like, ‘I don’t care about people losing their homes, their jobs or our soldiers in Iraq.’ He just wants our country to fail.

To me, that’s treason. He’s not saying anything differently than Osama bin Laden is saying. You know you might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker but he was just so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight

“Too much?

“You’re laughing inside, I know you’re laughing.

“Rush Limbaugh — I hope the country fails. I hope his kidneys fail, how about that?

“He needs a waterboarding, that’s what he needs.”
Too much? This is a comedienne we are talking about here. Not a political Pundit, not the voice OR the leader of the GOP, Rush Limbaugh. This was Wanda Sykes.

Let's review a few things a certain leader of the GOP has said over the years, shall we?
"He is exaggerating the effects of the disease. He's moving all around and shaking and it's purely an act. ... This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn't take his medication or he's acting." --on an ad by Michael J. Fox endorsing Claire McCaskill for Senate for supporting embryonic stem cell research.

You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray [the confessed assassin of Martin Luther King]. We miss you, James. Godspeed.

"This is no different than what happens at the Skull and Bones initiation...I'm talking about people having a good time, these people, you ever heard of emotional release? You ever heard of the need to blow some steam off?" --on the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal.

"I've been racking my brain. I've been trying to figure out how Bob Dole's luggage got on my airplane...I told the doctor, I said, 'Look, I'm worried about the next election.' ... A misunderstanding." --after he was detained by custom officials for possessing Viagra with a prescription made out in someone else's name.

Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream.

I mean, let's face it, we didn't have slavery in this country for over 100 years because it was a bad thing. Quite the opposite: slavery built the South. I'm not saying we should bring it back; I'm just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark.

I don't really need to mention the Half-rican Comments, nor the Socialistfascistcommunist talk regarding our President. I don't think this needs to be re-hashed here. What is important tho is that the so called MSM have decided that Wanda Sykes was over the line, without really taking a look at the history of what Rush has said. The hypocrisy is stunning, and yet, not surprising.

While so many people talk about the faltering GOP, and what can be done to save it, the party continues to embrace the ideology of this race bating, mysiogynistic drug addicted mouthpeice as tho he really offers something beneficial to America. Well, he actually does -- but not to all of America -- he gives racists and old white men hope that one day they will rise again. Don't believe me?

Yesterday Dick Cheney was on the TV Machine again. HE told Bob Scheiffer on Face the Nation:
"I don't think the party ought to move dramatically to the left, for example, in order to try to redefine its base.

"We are what we are. We're Republicans. We have certain things we believe in. And maintaining our loyalty and commitment to those principles is vital to our success."

They are what they are. Nice. When further questioned on the direction of the Republican Party he said,
"Well, if I had to choose in terms of being a Republican, I'd go with Rush Limbaugh, I think," Cheney replied. "I think my take on it was Colin had already left the party. I didn't know he was still a Republican."

"So you think that he's not a Republican?"

"I just noted he endorsed the Democratic candidate for president this time, Barack Obama," Cheney said. "I assumed that that is some indication of his loyalty and his interest."

"And you said you would take Rush Limbaugh over Colin Powell."

"I would, politically."

And no one seems to think that this is over the top. Maybe it isn't hypocrisy, maybe they really DO want to be the party of extremists. Maybe just maybe they ARE telling the truth. But Wanda Sykes, she was the one, SHE went over the line? Cry me a river, GOP. When you start keeping your own house clean then you can talk about mine. In the mean time, go tend to your own terrorists' Kidney- and no -- I am not talking Osama Bin Laden. I am talking about the man who laments to repeal of Slavery. The man who unabashedly hates liberalsim, so much so, he said "I tell people don't kill all the liberals, leave enough around so we can have two on every campus; living fossils, so we will never forget what these people stood for."- Rush Limbaugh

I guess the media doesn't think advocating death is over the line. If the media wants to start talking about line crossing, then maybe they should have a real discussion, instead of fake poutrage of one female comedienne. (who, btw -- just happens to be a woman of color -- just saying...)

:peace: and
Raine

Why does the media find it so easy to criticize lefties, but seems scared to criticize righties?

I've always thought Wanda Sykes was funny, even when she had a bad sitcom

Comment by Raine on 05/11/2009 13:53:23
Funny thing... the WH is going to release a torture Memo that pretty much cuts Dick off at the knees. Uh oh Dick!

OMG. My Nephew ( he's 12 ) was telling me about a fifth grader who is active in a "Save the Beavers" campaign for one of our CT rivers, and because of Momma and the Mooks, I had this dumb grin on my face and wondered the whole time if my nephew was being serious, or if he got the joke!

that's the new trick of a lot of these companies - they will not let you talk to a manager. I have had companies refuse to transfer the call.

Not to be a noodge, but isn't that what the right-wing says about any left-wing actor that dares to speak their mind?

Comment by starling310 on 05/11/2009 14:56:04
It sounded like she didn't have a balance on the WaMu card and therefore, wouldn't have gone on-line to a "make a payment." Just sayin...maybe I misunderstood the call.

oh, I don't care if he speaks his mind. I just hate to lose him as an actor, he's probably one of the few right-wing actor/entertainers that is actually good.

Back from the doctor. I did lose another 3 pounds. At least one bit of good news and I will be trying a new anti-depressant to see if that at least can get me functioning through the day.

Comment by wickedpam on 05/11/2009 16:03:02
things take time - the more you work at it they more you will start seeing daylight. make a list of the things you want to do and start ticking things off. it helps.

Good news! Iran confirms to free U.S.-born reporter

This is good news indeed. It doesn't come as surprise to me. This whole imbroglio has followed the classic script. Journalist arrested as spy. Arresting country makes a big stink. There is a trial, harsh sentence is handed down. Journalist's home country protests. Arresting country relents and reduces sentence. All that needs to happen now is Roxanna Sabari's deportation from Iran.

Sorry if I sound cynical. I don't mean to, this whole journalist as spy meme is so played out.

Comment by Raine on 05/11/2009 17:55:01
Well I have KLTLK going, I am hoping Chicago carries her live. I would really like to stream her in iTunes.
