Mamdani had endorsed two progressive challengers who were looking to unseat incumbent Democrats in the city. Former comptroller Brad Lander, who backed Mamdani in the mayoral race, ousted moderate Rep. Dan Goldman after accusing him of not being critical enough of Israel.

Progressive community organizer Darializa Avila Chevalier, a 32-year-old member of the Democratic Socialists of America, defeated Rep. Adriano Espaillat. Avila Chevalier's campaign was notable after she said she "deeply" regretted a series of social media posts sent in her twenties that included offensive remarks about Kamala Harris.

A third race to replace retiring Rep. Nydia Velázquez saw Mamdani's favored candidate, Claire Valdez, defeat Velázquez's preferred successor, Antonio Reynoso.

Army veteran Cait Conley won New York's key 17th District, and will move on to challenge incumbent Republican Rep. Mike Lawler, one of just three GOP representatives in a district that voted for Kamala Harris in 2024.

Businessman Anthony Constantino won the Republican primary in New York's northernmost district. Constantino, who put an enormous "Vote For Trump" sign on the roof of his company's building, will likely ease to victory in November in the heavily Republican area.

In Maryland, Democrats picked state Del. Adrian Boafo to advance to November's general election in the race to succeed his retiring former boss, U.S. Rep. Steny Hoyer, who set off a mad scramble in January when he announced that he'd be giving up the House seat he's held for the past 45 years.

Former Rep. David Trone failed to regain the seat in Maryland's Sixth District that he gave up in 2024 to launch an unsuccessful Senate bid, losing out to incumbent Rep. April McClain Delaney. Trone, the co-owner of the Total Wine & More retail chain, had a significant self-funding advantage, but McClain Delaney secured endorsements from most of Maryland's high-profile elected officials.

In Utah, former congressman Ben McAdams won the Democratic primary in a completely redrawn U.S. House district that Democrats are strongly favored to win this fall.

In South Carolina, President Trump ensured that a candidate endorsed by him would be successful in the GOP gubernatorial primary runoff by supporting both candidates in a closely contested race.

Before the first round of voting, the president gave his endorsement to Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, which helped her earn the largest share of the vote. But polls ahead of the runoff showed that her opponent, state Attorney General Alan Wilson, had established a commanding lead. Last week, Trump amended his endorsement to say that he supported both candidates.

It was Wilson who ultimately came out on top. "Alan Wilson wins!" the president posted on social media. "Endorsed by President Trump!"
