Good Morning.
You know, Presidents travel a lot. Sometimes they travel during wartime.
So let's journey back in time to the biggest conflict of them all. World War II saw over six years of fighting, potentially anywhere in the world at any time. The Wartime leaders of FDR, Truman, Churchill, Stalin, and even Chiang Kai-Shek and Charles de Gaulle met at varying times and in varying places.
Pretty sure none of them hid out in a catering truck.
Perhaps the conference with the highest danger during the war was at Casablanca.
The meeting took place in January of 1943. Casablanca had only recently been liberated, part of Operation Torch on November 8, 1942. Our own Battleship Massachusetts traded fire with the French battleship Jean Bart. "Big Mamie" won.
Two months later, North Africa was still a potential war zone. So how did Roosevelt safely travel there? (From Wiki AI, sorry.)
Winston Churchill undertook an even more dangerous journey to meet with Stalin in Moscow, in August of 1942. Moscow was no longer under direct threat, but the Eastern Front was in full swing at the time - so early that Stalingrad had not yet come under attack. So how did he make out?
President Trump decided not to fly home aboard one of the Presidential 747s from Turkey because of an alleged "credible threat" from Iran to try to down the aircraft. So he went on an elaborate ruse to fly on a nondescript, smaller aircraft. Meanwhile, BOTH 747s (The legacy aircraft, and Qatar's Bribe) flew from Turkey to England. If both or either had been targeted....hundreds of staff and media would have died.
The BBC has a step-by-step process on how it was done, complete with a photo essay. But of course, everything was a big secret at the time.
These are not the actions of a bold and confident leader....but rather a scared and intimidated old man.

Departure: Left Washington by train on January 9, 1943, arriving in Miami on January 11.
First Flight Leg: Boarded the Pan Am Dixie Clipper flying boat at 6:00 AM on January 11.
Refueling Stops: Stopped in Trinidad, then flew down the coast to Belém, Brazil.Atlantic
Crossing: Flew across the Atlantic Ocean from South America to Bathurst (now Banjul), Gambia in West Africa.
Final Leg: Switched to a Douglas C-54 Skymaster army transport plane for the final flight into Casablanca's Medouina Airport, arriving on January 14, 1943, after a roughly 17,000-mile total round-trip undertaking.

Donald Trump secretly swapped planes as he left a Nato summit in Turkey last month, as part of an elaborate ruse in response to a possible Iranian threat, US media report.
The US president boarded Air Force One in view of television cameras before being transported to a military aircraft with the help of a catering truck, the Washington Post said. Journalists and some White House staff on board did not know he had been smuggled out.
Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth boarded the C-32A separately using external stairs in an effort to make the flight appear normal, according to the newspaper.

Trump then flew to the UK en route to the US, where he reboarded the old Air Force One and was seen descending from the aircraft after it landed at RAF Mildenhall. It is unclear how he moved from the C-32A back to the legacy jet.
