It seems like deja vu all over again. A news report makes us ask the question: Is Bush a liar or just grossly incompetent?... and which one is worse?
The big news of course is that a recently declassified NIE reports that Iran abandoned its nuclear program 4 years ago. This raises a lot of questions: What did the president know and when did he know it? Why is he just now talking about this? Let's take a look at both of these...
Bush stated in a press conference on Tues that:
So he was told in August, but... did the President of the United States ask what the information was? It would seem that new information on one of the "axis of evil" would arouse his curiousity. If it didn't, does he deserve to be president? Did he run away with his fingers in his ears yelling "la la la - I can't hear you!"?
Or - as has been suggested by Dan Froomkin of the Washington Post and Josh Marshall of Talking Points Memo - Bush DID learn of the details in August. They point out subtle change in his use of words:
That would point to Bush deliberately lying and trying to scare the American people into supporting a war with Iran. Which is better - lying or incompetence... and does it matter?
The other big question is why it took until last August for the information to reach the oval office. The apparent reason: Cheney suppressed it.
If this is true - and it rings true - then the articles of impeachment against Cheney should be brought out of committee immediately, and voted on forthwith. Abuse of power to encourage war with another country cannot be tolerated (again).

"He didn't tell me what the information was. He did tell me it was going to take a while to analyze," Bush said.

"That change is no accident. He wants claims that will survive the eventual revelation of this new intelligence -- while also continuing to hype the imminence of the Iranian nuclear threat that his spy chiefs are telling him likely does not exist."

Only that he has been to the vet 3 times in the past 2 weeks because I was concerned about a little weight loss. The vet wanted to do blood tests to rule out Feline Leukeimia, Diabetes, or Renal Failure. After that, she wanted an ultrasound to take a look at his little heart.

WOW! We usually drink the Rainforest blend from the DeKalb farmers market. it is fair trade, and it is only about 50 cents more than Maxwell house pound for pound.
I cannot tell you how much a good blend of coffee makes a dif.

We've been drinking Gevalia for a while. We just got our annual shipment of the "Royal Kaffe" in the fancy purple boxes. Our regular shipment these days is Hazelnut and Columbian whole-bean.
Before that, we used to buy Green Mountain whole bean coffee at Costco, so I'd recommend that.

Listening to Randi on the way in, I heard her call the Mormon "magic underpants' and her say "lying sack of crap". Sounds like someone is snarfing Stephisms.

Rangers-Thrashers on MSG2.
Islandres-Panthers on FSN New York
And a Devils game on FSN New York 2.
It looks like heavy lurk mode and I won't be getting out until 2 AM probably tonight.

I love the Hobo Gloves, I know I should not, but ?I love them ...Also I must add that I know the Cumberland farms!
They are not down here. but I know the Cumberland farms! one of my fave pairt of sunglasses came from that chain!

Tonites menu: grilled marinated steak( in the Northeast we call it BBQ'ing... another discussion altogether...) roasted corn, garlic Rosemary Mashed potatoes and whatever Veggie bobR picks on his way home. We will be having homeade Pilsner with the dinner menu, and perchance some jameson later, as we watch KO, and then *Santa Claus is coming to town, along with the peanuts Chrsitmas and other holiday fare.)
I would like to officially invite you all for a dinner whenever you want to come to the ATL.
