There has been a bruhaha between the White house and Fox News as of late. Many over at the network are simply besides themselves because the White House has called them out on their 'misrepresentation of the truth', to say it lightly. For all their hot air about being called out by White House, Fox, it seems, did exactly what THEY complain about.

The result of this has been (so far) Glenn Beck comparing the network to the jews during the holocaust, a reporter at Fox compared the President to Nixon, Steve Doocey compared him to Hugo Chavez. There was this from Sean Hannity:
HANNITY: We have a White House that has now set up a Web site specifically to attack the FOX News Channel because we ask tough questions and they do not like that. They’re not used to that with the fawning news media.

So — I mean is this an enemies list? It seems like it to me. I can’t imagine a Republican doing this without, you know, a media outcry.
The hypocrisy here is just mind numbing. Think Progress has a little bit of irony to this entire story. Fox Not only outwardly supported the Bush's 'war' against NBC -- they vocally supported a White House boycott of of the network.
– INGRAHAM: Now Karl, why would the White House agree to do an interview with Richard Engel? I mean, this is the guy who, you know, really didn’t want to give the surge any credit and NBC, an organization, obviously that’s called this a civil war. Now it’s kind of not gone back and changed his view on that. We’re in a recession, etcetera, etcetera. I mean, why bother really at this point? [The O'Reilly Factor, 5/19/09]

– E.D. HILL: You know, I’m sure you know from watching this program that, you know, Bill has, you know, has been reporting for more than a year on a pattern suggesting that NBC News basically panders to the left and is, in essence, in the pocket for Barack Obama. Why go on a venue like that to begin with?
There is more at the link, but more importantly there is a letter sent out in May 2008, from then-White House counselor Ed Gillespie to NBC News President Steve Capus, accusing them of deceptive editing and blurring the lines between “news” and “opinion.”

They aren't bothering to mention that the President HAS been interviewed on Fox, by Bill O'Reilly. That fact won't get in the way of a Fox manufactured controversy. If they want to be called a news channel -- they need to do a little research and mention a few facts. Don't lie and you won't be accused of lying. It really is as simple as that. They are making a news story about themselves instead of reporting really important news -- like Ballon boy throwing up live on NBC this morning. Now THAT's news -- and entertainment!

Raine

Re: balloon boy.

The 'authorities' were retarded. There simply wasn't enough lift generated by that flimsy craft to lift a six-year-old.

Remember when the Mythbusters tried to lift someone with helium balloons? We're talking thousands here.

Simply. Not. Possible.

MSNBC just had video of Balloon Boy's Dad Releasing the Balloon --- me thinks Poppa Ballon boy needs a lawyer...

this story pisses me off -- a lot.

Morning all & Happy Fridee!!!

These parents really are beggars for attention huh? After last night's thing on Nightline where the kid basically gave them away for planning the whole thing, they bring the kid on the air knowing he was sick! (evidenced by proper planning with the tupperware barfbowl..)

Morning.

Oh THANK YOU for posting the puke/balloon/box boy video. I missed it.

Secondly, regarding FAUX news, I would love for the White House to either ban them from press conferences or, put them in the back with the bloggers and the indie news orgs. They deserve it. Just because you put "News" in your name does not make it so. Otherwise, "Velveeta Jones News Corp" would be sitting up front at press briefings.

If FOX says that O'Reilly, Hannity, Beck, Ingraham, etc. are "commentators", then when do they actually report the news?

So to test letters and numbers, Random made this:

So on the Rush NFL thing.. Apparently by announcing the names of the other partners on the bid to buy the Rams (i.e. George Soros), Rush violated a confidentiality agreement!

With every passing day, it looks more and more like Rush deliberately did this as a publicity stunt.

Isn't the Nobel Committee a Foriegn State?

Better question, doesn't matter if Roosevelt or Wilson did something it'd still be a gift. So if congress didn;t approve of it then.

Its members are appointed by a foreign government (Norway), but I believe it's a private organization.

Hey gang. Back from the store. I really need a martini, but not before a scout meeting.

Very busy today...they had me up in Outerwear, and it was snowing this morning, so the jackets were flying out of the store.

Noticed something curious, too. I've been getting all the "plum" assignments the last 2 weeks. I've been point person on customer service in whatever department they've zoned me in for the day, and today I was flying solo with the jackets. Apparently, I'm still good at customer service. So something is still going right.
