One More Day, One Day More 2010
Author: Raine    Date: 11/01/2010 12:51:45

On the Morning of November 4, 2008, our dear friend Clintster wrote the following:
[...]We talked about the 2000 election, and she made a startling confession to me.

“I didn’t vote”, she confessed.

I looked at her in shock and surprise. “What happened?” I asked, sure that the answer would have something to do with being kidnapped by ruthless pirates, shanghaied to… well, Shanghai, and forced to work in a sweatshop turning out counterfeit Bush-Cheney bumper stickers. If only it were that simple.

“I didn’t think it was that important”, she protested, “and I was trying to get my Master’s degree.”

I teased her for weeks afterwards for being responsible for Bush-Cheney, even though North Carolina was not in play that year. However we should all take note that NC and many other states are in play, and regardless of how crucial your state is to the national election, you should take the time and vote for the local candidates you see as fitting to your interests. A good house is only as solid as its foundation. Vote early, vote well, and enjoy the thrill of tomorrow.
Every election and every vote is important.

Unlike 2008, EVERY state is in play this year. Every member of the House of Representatives is up for debate. It is important. The media has been pushing the meme that there is an enthusiasm gap, the media is basically calling for the demise of the Democratic party -- I just don't know, I am nervous, but I know that this can all be avoided if registered Democrats just get up and vote. if 215,000 + people can travel to the National Mall on an October afternoon, they can vote.

So today, friends, please take some time to Help get out the vote in whatever way you can. This election is important. If the GOP -- the party of "No" once again regains the majority, the strides that have been made will stop altogether, and some will be repealed. DADT? Won't have a chance of happening. DOMA? Forget it altogether. Repealing the Bush Tax Cuts? Nope. Jobs packages? No again. Bringing manufacturing jobs back to America? Dream on. Changing the filibuster? NO. Whatever you think could be achieved will NOT happen if the GOP becomes the majority party. It's that simple.

Let's not forget that many have promised to bring forth a slew of indictments against the President. They have told you what they will bring to DC, this wasn't hyperbole.

But the biggest reason why Elections matter? Say this out loud: House Leader John Boehner. Just like 2008, 2000 and all other elections -- it matters. One More day and one day more --

Vote -- elections matter. Elections are important.
