We started this life learning to “toe the line”, and respect our elders and our leaders.
But as adults it is now our responsibility to stand up and speak! Lately it seems we now have things that stand in the way of our ability to take actions. These things infest us and lure us into into complacency, we have Play Stations and Xbox’s and Ipods, and cell phones with camera's, and all sorts of do-hickies to occupy our time and dull our senses.
At the same time, we are told that we are important, that your opinion counts; and indeed, there are people that claim to want to know exactly what you are thinking! All the news outlets have countless analysts and pollsters who tell us who we are by race, gender, ethnicity and religion and who we are going to vote for, what car we’ll drive who we’ll sleep with, what we’ll die of, and what we wear, buy, eat, and how often will poop it all out. Politicians and corporations hire strategists who run amok gathering this information so they can tell the politician what to sell and the corporation what to say and vice versa.
We are made stupid by television shows like these that I’ve discovered thanks to “The Soup” with Joel McHale: Snoop-Dogg has a reality show? Why? Hugh Hefner has 3 girlfriends, all young enough to be his great-grand daughters, and has a show . Why do we care? There is a TV show about COPS running around arresting poor people who are on drugs, dating shows to find a rich man/woman or a rock star, advice shows on dating, keeping your house clean, preparing foods, training your dogs, training your kids, cleaning your guns. Games shows that test your 5th grade skills, your ability to lie, your ability to guess which suitcase has money, your ability to go through a gauntlet while some jacked-up-on-roids crazy acting mother fucker in makeup and hair gel tries to knock you down.
Meanwhile, your civic duty, voting, is being taken away. Your calls and emails are monitored and if you have a funny sounding last name, you may even get deported!

What will it take to get the average everyday complacent American to speak up? There are numerous documented voting problems in several states, yet we hear barely a peep in the media. HBO did a special called Hacking Democracy, and since rumor has it there is no football today, I suggest you watch this documentary.

Then get to writing your letters. If you don’t speak up now, you never will. My wife is one of those, she writes several letters each week to our Senators, Congress and yes, Bush/Cheney. She is no doubt, on some list and I dare not attempt to leave the country with her, we’ll never get back in. She encourages me to speak up. Here is some advice on how to write a protest letter
Here’s some I have will be working on:
1. FISA. Senate filibuster is promised against a bill that would grant immunity from lawsuits against telecommunication companies that participated in the Bush administration's warrantless wiretapping of U.S. citizens.
The bill is S.2248. There is a competing FISA bill from the Judiciary Committee which does not grant immunity.
2. Rush Limbaugh, mostly because he’s fun to pick on. I listened to him the other day and noticed that he always said “democrat” without the “ic” as in “democrat party”. What a boob. My letter, will go to him and his EIB network pointing out that he seems to have a dull grasp of grammar usage.
3. Impeachment. I can’t let this go. So, okay, there’s less than a year left of these mooks, but whoever wins the election will have the same power(s) to commit the same abuses and it can get worse. This is the reason to keep impeachment ON the table.
4. CNN. I want Glenn Beck off the air. Why? Why not?
There are so many things to address, pick some and get to writing. Add some more to the list I’ve started. But be quick about it, before the (undisclosed) satellite drops on your head and releases (top secret) toxins that will kill you - maybe. (Seems no one really wants to talk about it).

FLORENCE, Ariz. — Thomas Warziniack was born in Minnesota and grew up in Georgia, but immigration authorities pronounced him an illegal immigrant from Russia.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has held Warziniack for weeks in an Arizona detention facility with the aim of deporting him to a country he's never seen. His jailers shrugged off Warziniack's claims that he was an American citizen, even though they could have retrieved his Minnesota birth certificate in minutes and even though a Colorado court had concluded that he was a U.S. citizen a year before it shipped him to Arizona.
On Thursday, Warziniack finally became a free man. Immigration officials released him after his family produced a birth certificate and after a U.S. senator demanded his release.
"The immigration agents told me they never make mistakes," Warziniack said in an earlier phone interview from jail. "All I know is that somebody dropped the ball."
The story of how immigration officials decided that a small-town drifter with a Southern accent was an illegal Russian immigrant illustrates how the federal government mistakenly detains and sometimes deports American citizens.

A disabled American spy satellite is rapidly descending and is likely to plunge to Earth by late February or early March, posing a potential danger from its debris, officials said Saturday.
Officials said that they had no control over the nonfunctioning satellite and that it was unknown where the debris might land.
"Appropriate government agencies are monitoring the situation," said Gordon Johndroe, a spokesman for the National Security Council. "Numerous satellites over the years have come out of orbit and fallen harmlessly. We are looking at potential options to mitigate any possible damage this satellite may cause."
Specialists in spy satellite operations suspect it is an experimental imagery satellite built by Lockheed Martin and launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California in December 2006 aboard a Delta II rocket. Shortly after the satellite reached orbit, ground controllers lost the ability to control it and were never able to regain communication.
"It's not necessarily dead, but deaf," said Jonathan McDowell, an astronomer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and an analyst for various government space programs.
It is fairly common for satellites to drop out of orbit and enter Earth's atmosphere, but most break up before they reach the surface, McDowell said. Such incidents occur every few months, and it is often difficult to control the satellite's trajectory or its re-entry into the atmosphere. The debris, if any survives the fiery descent, typically lands in remote areas and causes little or no harm.
"For the most part," McDowell said, "re-entering space hardware isn't a threat because so much of the Earth is empty. But one could say we've been lucky so far."
Of particular concern in this case, however, is that the debris from the satellite may include hydrazine fuel, which is typically used for rocket maneuvers in space.
