Crazy Talk

I've a few things to say before the world ends this May. Though some say that it could end earlier, by "some" I mean to say "scientists predict that the world will end very soon". Have I cleared that up? Good.

Also since the dawn of the new Zodiac and Velveeta is no longer a Virgo, I am not burdened with those Virgo traits like being practical and analytical and a constant worrier about the impending doom of the end times. It's so freeing!

It seems to me that Americans have our collective panties in a wad and no way to pull them out. It's like we are drowning in the sweaty ass-crack of bitterness, fear and angry rhetoric. I blame Fox News, while Fox News no doubt, blames MSNBC. I suppose CNN sort of slides into the middle, and after watching them recently doing an interview with something called a "Snooki" as well as a story on a water-skiing squirrel I can see why people might call them mediocre.

It boils down to this: passionate people carelessly use violent words and images which leads to something violent actually happening. I'm sure someone who's all science-y knows of a term this refers to. Centrifugal force, Density, Sub Atomic Mass Thermal Gravity something or other.

Anyway, the people that say these violent words and pictures - pictures like a billboard riddled with bullet hole images in it claiming the inflammatory radio host can shoot straight - refuse to tone down their anger, nor do they apologize for their rhetoric. Instead, they back off. They say, "but that is not what I meant" or "those weren't gun sights they were surveyors sights".

However, by their denial and defense of their words and the quick removal of their images, they acknowledge that what they do is wrong. For example Sarah Palin took down the map graphic with the gun sights on districts where Democrats voted for Health Care reform faster than the bullet that incapacitated the one who was targeted by that very graphic. While Rep. Giffords hangs on to hope after being shot, Sarah goes after the media and says it was their fault, not hers. And Clear Channel took down the above mentioned billboard with bullet hole images that hung over the highway in Tucson, why? Out of respect for the victims? But wasn't that the intention of the sign, to rally Rush's troops?

These images were meant to be a veiled threat to people. That was the purpose, and you can't diminish it just by saying "that's not what I meant". It's like a white man saying to his black neighbor, "hey, I'm just burning a cross to show my love of Jesus Christ while keeping warm..."

The Tea Party members who tote guns and violent signs to their rallies wanted violence. They got it. Why are they now unhappy about it?

This is how it plays both ways. I don't really think Rush wants violence. Frankly, I think he lives in a big-ass house cowering in fear and needs to self medicate himself to make the scary world go away.

He could make it be a less scary place if he just said a few kind words every now and again. But I don't suppose he will, unless..... unless...... maybe he is now a PISCES.
